I find it very coincidental how DJTT drops a controller with RGB buttons, knowing the upcoming release of the yet to be officially announced Ni Kontrol F1.
I was planning to be my own easter bunny and acquire the F1 in April, but now with the MF 3d, the decision got all the more convoluted.
Ultimately I would imagine most people would get more use out of an F1. Although I like the 3D for its ingenuity I’m very much of the opinion that it’s initial lure lies purely in the gimmick element of how the controller works. In the log run the F1 would be a far more practical controller, IMO. And it’s perfect for Traktor pro 2.5.
I have turntables, 2 X1’s and a X1600 mixer. The x1600 has midi knobs on them and a pretty good effect unit, so even when i play without turntables, I tend to use only the X1 cue buttons.
Therefor I’m thinking about getting a MF 3d over an F1 for the following reasons:
4 deck cue points with color coding in 1 page.
Smaller footprint controller.
More tactile control than the pads.
But the most important reason:
Knowing DJtechtools, the midi possibilities will be almost endless and constantly updated. As with all controllers of djtechtools, I suspect there’s a lot more than meets the eye.
I think what your ‘missing’ is that the mf3d has 6 shift buttons on the sides and 4 banks on top…so if you can keep track of pages you have alot going on there.
what im thinking is…after all the crazy wtf mapping that djtt does to it, I will have 1 ‘shift’ bank for cues and loops, this will be 8 cues on 1 bank for A & B, then another bank will be able to hold 8 stored loops for A & B.
I will have another ‘shift’ layer set to samples (2 banks for decks C & D)…so going down each column I will have
(use another shift button on side to delete cues and loops)
I think its useful to have a side shift for this because you won’t accidently delet anything
Once again I don’t know enough about the controller to completely format this mapping, nor do I know the number of pages this thing has.
But if its djtt I’m guessing they left alot of options open and I see it as a cue juggler, instant grat wtf mapping, and sample decks…so really I would only need this and a mixer if I set up a cue/play/sync page
My cousin has the MidiFighter and I love it, but I’d rather get the the regular MF than the 3D, that gyro/spin/shake thing is kind of silly to me. I would choose an F1 or X1 anyways.
