why are my traktor recordings SO DAMN BIG?!

just did a recording of 2 basic sized mp3’s.. only a total of about 7 minutes.. and the file is a whopping 78.6mb!! at this rate, if i do an hour mix i’ll be at over a gig! what should i do guys? i need the file to ultimately be small enough to be downloaded by friends, etc..

Just convert it to a mp3 file

Yes traktor records in .wav format dude.

d’oh

just convert the .wav file to an .mp3 file, problem solved!

In case any one needs one this is free and really good

Or do it in iTunes

I did not know itunes had it (does it have decent options for encoding?) but for people not using itunes the one I posted is decent

If you are on windows the best software for media converting is the Format Factory

PS: For files with a higher than 192 bit rate, choose “Custom” setting and select 320 in the new window and disable VBR.

If it’s anything like ITCH which it probably is, it records the song as a .wav file which is not compressed.

What you can do is download audacity, open the file into audacity. Then go: file > export… > save as type: mp3 files > pick somewhere to save it and then press save.

Then upload it to soundcloud or whichever one you use
