recommended by a really techy guy on a different forum:
Or an HP Envy. even has unibody aluminum
They even have a list of compatible gear:
i dont know, but i can see all the Mac boys loving this and simply posting… “BUY A MAC”
Hold… back… hold… back…
OMG
The Rain LiveBook Studio is so sexy.
Custom tuned Windows7 OS for audio/ video processing stability.
Custom tunes system BIOS to the same effect.
SPECIFICALLY customized for stability in programs like… Traktor, Pro Tools, and Premier.
I want.
if youre looking for a daw, like mac pro style. a quo maxq is a MUCH better deal. and it runs osx =D
Those are also full towers.
Shove that all in a stable laptop like the LiveBook, and sell that at the same price point, then I would be stoked.
I have a hack-book hard drive because I really do accept that OSX is an incredible platform.
But even it is not SPECIFICALLY tuned for audio/video processing, and the programs associated with them.
The LiveBook has a custom tuned, by Rain, BIOS with a custom tuned, by Rain, OS install.
That is legit. And it costs money.
Quo sells hardware with drivers.
Rain modifies the base BIOS, as well as the OS they sell you, on top of optimizing this, and all the drivers for the device, for the most popular music and video production software.
Definitely points to Rain…
When I have the money. As no matter where I go in this life, it will be in music, I have already made that decision. So when its financially responsible to do so, a 13" LiveBook Studio will be mine.
those are some pretty hardcore claims.
i think ill email steve over at hardocp to see what he has to say about them
Albeit I have never seen either of those products…
I’m basing my opinion solely off the informations from the manufacturers web-sites.
its cool, this should be interesting.
kyle loves to put a manufacturers feet to the fire to see if their claims are bs or not
yeah, im with xtian on this… gonna call shenanigans till told otherwise.
i bet you they do nothing that isn’t achievable by ANYONE with knowledge of how to access a bios and regedit
i was educated by him a little. i haven’t used a windows system for personal use in like 6 years[at my job is a different story], so i have fallen behind some things when it comes to setting up windows systems for audio applications. but with this rig, you don’t really need to do any kind of os tweaking out of the box.
i heard of rain a few years ago, when i found that guitar center was selling that brand. but by that time i was already on a ibook, then a 24" imac, and now a 13" mbp.
i mean it sounds to me like what they are doing is no different than what they do at the microsoft store with their “signature optimization”
I too would love more detailed information on what they are ACTUALLY doing.
But just calling bunk on their advertising with no information yet is kinda closed minded.
So get more detailed infos!
lol… cause I want to hear em.
new line of apple products coming out in about april…
im waiting for a macbook air
LOL. Right when they say modified the operating system it means making an image with some services removed and some programs added. Changing the innor workings of windows would be illegial(if selling)/extreamly hard. You can customise it urself tho. Custom bios are made by all the big laptop manufactures to increase stability. The big ones have alot more resources so generally get better results.
The Lenovo ThinkPad T410 2522 is a good option if you are not doing anything graphics intensive ie latest games or video mixing. It is very well built and well designed laptop. It has very good review and user ratings.
The usb port on the right of the machine is extreamly well powered so perfect for a soundcard. The 3 on the left are also powered but not as well. It also has firewire.
Any decient windows machine can be as stable if not more stable than a mac. It is generally a better coded operating system. This is because it has to be able to run on so many pieces of hardware and it is subject to alot more attack. Apple can often take a very long time to patch stuff.
Cheap windows machines use cheap parts so will allmost never compete. I think spending 850 on a good laptop is more than enough for djing.
Audio encoding is nothing compared to audio and video so you really dont need anything that great. I have seen ppl run traktor pro on a net book with no problems
The only real alternative?
Totally agree.
Once your running Traktor as fast as it can be run, anything above that is absolutely unnecessary.
