I have been a windows user all my life but i am begining to get very annoyed with windows 10 mostly because of the constant crashes that happen when using the Djm900nxs. I have tried everything to resolve the issue, everything is up to date but still the crashes that Pioneer say shouldn’t be happening persist.
So i have been thinking about moving over to a Mac but i have a few questions.
If i do go the Mac route should i get the Macbook Pro retina or the new Macbook? I am quessing the Pro would be better just for the conectivity options, only having one port on the new macbook seems a bit strange.
I have read that there have been problems with El capitan and Pioneer/Traktor compatabilty does anyone know if these have been solved? i would hate to spend all that money and end up having the same problems.
I made the switch to mac in 2012 and can honestly say I will probably never go back to windows, I find it a lot more stable (not just for music making/djing) I have never had any issues with tractor but ha e had the odd random crash with ableton which has been no more than a little annoyance every now and then, I know people have had issues with el capital but I guess I’m one of the lucky ones, I know macs come in higher on cost but I will probably still be using my macbook pro in another 4 years, I would have probably gone through 2 or 3 windows based platforms in the same time
Not quite applicable anymore, there are a ton of docking stations / hubs available now ranging from $30 - $100 which provide a ton of peripheral support (and power!) for the 12" Macbook - so really boils down to what your size preference (and other power apps you might need to run) rather than what simply won’t work for DJ’ing.
Ive installed LOTS of Win10 and have never had a single install where a piece of hardware didnt work afterwards.
You might be talking about the generic Windows drivers, rather than the specific vendors drivers, but thats not Microsofts fault, and youll always need to add specific vendor drivers afterwards to use specific features.
Your mate should get someone who knows what they are doing to look at their PC. I have literally zero problems with 64 bit VSTs on 64 bit Win 10. It might just be specfic problems with specific VSTs which has nothing to do with microsoft.
Specifically issues with Spire, Trillian, and Widebug. The 32 bit versions run fine, but the 64 bit versions crash in FLStudio, Ableton, and Bitwig. Tried re downloading and reinstalling, but no go. They are legit copies too.

Yeah - that’s exactly what I mean. Windows tries to run other vendors hardware (and made some noise about being good at it), but the generic Win10 10 drivers are WORSE than having no drivers at all for 3rd party hardware.
But why would you even try running specialist hardware with generic drivers?
You would just install the vendors drivers as part of the install process. I wouldnt expect any decent functionality out of a Nvidia GPU until I had installed the Nvidia drivers.
