With this setup, is there anything I can’t do in Traktor Pro?

This Christmas, I was fortunate enough to recieve a vestax spin as a gift, and then grabbed Traktor Pro for half price off their site (love boxing week, also managed to get a Tonium Pacemaker for $100).

Traktor is very professional and aeons better than djay, however oldfashioned’s map doesn’t give me the immediate control I need. For this reason, I am going to purchase a Kontrol X1 next week to get better access to all the features.

With my spin, I have a x-fader, track volume, eq, headphone mix, jog wheels, and pitch control. The x1 will give me better access to the full effects suite, cueing, and looping.

So, my question is; will there be anything I can’t do with Traktor Pro using an X1 and a Spin with oldfashioned’s mapping? (this excludes the loop recorder and sample decks in future updates)

Well neither of those have super knobs or faders. That is a knob or fader that outputs more than one note depending on their position. The new midi fighter firmware adds that functionality so maybe look at getting one of those. Other than that you’ve got three pages on the X1 to map to your hearts content plus whatever the Spin has.

getting the most out of fx is really to with tsi mappings, which is what is so genius about the DJTT overlay on the VCI-100 mapping.

Proper ground shaking fx power all mapped out for you in a little unit and an overlay to boot.

that’s what i didn’t like about the s4… all the knobs just did one thing.

i like just hitting a button and all hard work is done

I hold my hands up, I can map ok.

I could never map the DJTT mapping, far too deep…
