Woo Yeah break not from James Brown after all.
Around 1:20 on this track…
… is the “Woo, yeah” break that for years I thought came from a James Brown track. You live and learn.

Well Lyn Collin’s backing band was the JB’s, same as James Brown; so technically it came from them.
James Brown also produced that track.
Right on^^
Loving these old facts! ![]()
In case you all haven’t see this series yet, it really got me diggin in my old funk records again…

Yeah, I wish I had that Love and Rockets album cover.
just got back from notting hill carnival and heard an amazing house re-edit of this lyn collins tune a couple of times.
anyone heard it? got it on mp3?
Mx
Also like to add that it’s interesting that the above vinyl was made in Holland.
Boom! - I was musing on the origins of this break just last week!

Thanks for this!
Not the one i’ve been hearing but not bad… But this one i’m looking for was a around 125 bpm and was almost like a deep house re-edit but somehow done almost solely using the breaks of the original.
The original has been sampled so many times it’s unbelievable.
Let’s see if we can pull some out
I’m gonna start with the most obvious:
this album has one of my all time favourite breaks on it

Drew!!! Thanks for pointing this out, man - very cool vids!
No problem man.
Anyone seen the one where he’s jammin’ out to Cee Lo Green’s “Fuck You”.
I think it should be the new official video… Hilarious!!!
Me too! I was introducing my kids to Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock, and began to think about that break. I figured it had to of been sampled from somewhere earlier on! Nice work.
i hate you for posting this…I thought I was a sample junkie. Now my collection is going to grow.
