Would this work!?

Hi guys,
I want to combine digital with my CD decks for club use.
So I can base most of the set round the CD decks but throw in
effects and control parameters etc through traktor with my Xone 1D
and launchpad.

If I bought this…

Would I be able to:
Put mixer into input 1/2
Macbook into input 3/4
Macbook MASTER OUT to out 3/4

Would that play sounds from the decks AND traktor (Macbook)
Or would it have to be one or the other?

I basically need to get them both coming out the same speakers
at the same time.

Cheers guys.

You would need Traktor, or some other software first. Then you would connect the macbook to the Audio 4 via USB then the CDJ’s to the Audio 4 via RCA. You can still fund a few places with Traktor Scratch Pro with would basically just be $100 more and you get an Audio 8 along with time code vinyl you could use with your CDJ’s or just stick to regular CD’s playing Audio through in Traktor.

Do you have a 4-channel mixer? Why not just hook up the outputs from the Audio4 the channels on the mixer not in use by a CDJ?

Wouldn’t that just be the same as using the master out?
I don’t really know what you mean bro?

The audio 4 gets the audio from the computer via USB so you don’t have to connect the computer to any of the RCA’s. So in this scenario you would have two RCA cables going from the outputs on the back of the Audio 4 to the two channels on the mixer you’re not using. What software are you using?

Oohhh as in to get the sound from the computer yeah?
Then use my master out on the mixer to go from speakers? I understand now.
I’ve got Traktor Scratch Pro and ableton live, not sure which to use though.
Probably ableton if the sets based around CD decks

I’ve actually toyed w/ what you’re wanting to do exactly (if I follow). The idea hit me hours before the auctions finished where I sold my Xone:1D & Audio 8. :eyes: Basically you want to have a CD-based set (standard club setup?) but also dick around w/ FX or maybe a 3rd deck? That’s where the Xone & Traktor come in, and personally is what I would use. The Xone feels like a mini-deck, small footprint (kinda) and you don’t have to cock about w/ a mouse or an APC-40. Just take your laptop, Xone:1D, and Audio4. There’s basically no setup. Plug the Audio4 into one (or 2) of the channels on the mixer & viola. Of course you might have to unplug something.

An easier solution is to just get a Xone:2d and use that sound card instead of the Audio4. Sounds like you have the Xone1D though.

I also thought of getting an Audio4 and a couple of dicers stuck to it on the top.

That sounds sweet man!
I’ve got an audio 2 at the minute so really I could do what you’re saying
with that couldn’t I??

Cheers for the advice man
