Xone 4D With Pioneer Exernal Effects

Xone 4D With Pioneer Exernal Effects

Hello, long time viewer 1st time posting!

I’m thinking of buying a Pioneer effects unit but have read issues with compatibility with Xone mixers, does anyone here have the 4D set up with either the RMX or EFX?

If so could you tell me how this works, are you able to apply the effects to each channel, or do you have to sacrifice one of the 4 mixer channels on the xone for the effects unit?

Any help would be much appreciated, cheers.

I run an EFX1000 with both of my Xone mixers and have not had a single issue.I do not use the 4D specifically though. How mine works is I would run the send/return loop into the EFX unit, then switch on “External Out” on the Xone. Then, it runs through the filters. If I want it to effect both channels, both filters are on. For input A only, obviously I’d turn the filter for input B off. Catch my drift?

Not sure mine has external out switch, but I assume it’s probably labelled as something else, there are a lot of small buttons for each channel to specify FX send/pre/post fade etc, never connected anyhting other than decks and laptop to the thing so I’m unsure how this all works.

I spoke to someone who has xone 92 which the 4d is based on, he said it works fine but it has to be routed through one of the 2 mic channels which the 4d does not have.

I’m hoping someone out there with a 4d can tell me it works!

Thanks for the reply

Looks like you would run the fx unit out of the FX send 1, then return it back onto the top fx return 1. Then it looks like you would have to play around with the FX return knob underneath the clock and the fx 1 knobs above whatever channel you with to have the fx routed to. Have a go and let me know if it works.

I’m on the look out for a cheap used EFX 500/1000 to try before I invest in a rmx 1000, I’ll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the advice!

I wouldn’t waste on the EFX500 try n find a 1000. Those and the RMX are totally different machines too

Received the RMX 1000 yesterday and early tests are not going good. I am getting the phasing issue I read about in forums, I’ve tried adjusting the dry wet etc on the 4D and the RMX but once the phasing stops the RMX output is so low you cannot hear it.

The only way I’ve got it working on each channel is to have the Channel fader down and fx1 pot turned up but this is not the way I expected it to work, in my mind the fx return should override the track that’s playing so you can just hear the effects with the fader up, like when you use the built in filter effects.

I’ve tried all the setting I can think of, pre & post fade etc but nothing works, so I’ve had to set the RMX output to a spare channel, and flip the cross fader over when using it, but I only use 2 decks, this is not a good scenario for anyone using all 4 channels.

Hope I can overcome this with further tests but it s looking like the 4d will not work with the RMX like I hoped, anyone thinking of making the purchase my advise at this stage is don’t unless you’re happy to dedicate a channel to the RMX.
