Xone k2 and Traktor LED Issues

Xone k2 and Traktor LED Issues

Recently purchased two Xone k2s, one being used for my Traktor Machine. While I have the setup pretty much the way I want, I am now working on LED output for feedback.

Anyways, with more research I believe ive figured out how to do what I am seeking in two different ways (One requires I use modifiers)

But Both are not functioning correctly at this point for some reason.

For my FX selector, I have a button that cycles through the available FX i have activated (3 in my case).. So now I am trying to set an ouput with

Effect 1 Selector → Note(red) g#1 → Controller Range: 1 - 1 Invert Blend Off

Effect 1 Selector → Note(orange) g#4 → Controller Range: 2 - 2 Invert Blend Off

Effect 1 Selector → Note(Green) g#7 → Controller Range: 3 - 3 Invert Blend Off

LED is off on no effect, then it cycles to red, then to orange, but turns off again and doesnt set the led green. It cycles back to no effect, then goes on again for red orange etc..

For my efffect knob selector, I have a button that switches between knob 1 and 2 on the effect, this is affected by using modifiers to tell the encoder what effect knob to change.

My goal was to change the color between Red and ORange based on which knob it was changing.

I attempted this by

Modifier 4 Out → m4 = 0 → Red Note → Controller Range 0 0
Modifier 4 Out → m4 = 1 → Orange Note → Controller Range 1 1

LEd glows red, push button light turns orange, and remains orange and wont go back to red… Ive also tried just leaving the controller range alone at 0 7… and 0 1

Any ideas or help is appreciated! Thanks

Sorry

Wrong Forum sorry

Please don’t double post. One thread is enough, I’ve moved it.

Did I saw this on NI forum?

Yeah, I updated my thread over there with this as well. I figured out that I didnt need modifiers for the switching of the FX because I could use controller range. But regardless that doesnt work fully, nor does the attempt with the buttons that do use modifiers

You say modifier don’t does it for ya, how is it set? Can you upload tsi with only this effect selector button along with modifier?

Maybe I could troubleshoot it from there.

maybe its the wrong note for green!?

According to the manual its correct, and if i invert it, someones i can get the off position to turn on green.. its very wierd behavior. WHen I logged on this morning, It now operates with the same mappings as : Off, Red, Off, Green as its cycle.. no more orange.. LOL I am at a loss.

Attached the Mappings TSI Only have one of each button mapped to do the ouput until I get it all sorted.

Wow, now that’s whole mapping there, I was like only those few problematic commands to get idea what could be issue…

However i made it working on my controller using both scenarios - mod output and effect selector output.

haha Yeah I realized that just after I attached it.. Sorry!

Did you have to change anything Stewe? I have been reading some reports of how the k2 handles certain off messages, and certain usres have been having to use some sort of a program (Modes something?) as the k2 for some reason it was sending an extra message

If you didnt change anything, then im going to lean towards that issue.. if you had t ochange something was it something simple I missed?

I didn’t change anything, in fact I made a quick mapping of my own. Had just loaded your mapping (xone 2D?), saw bunch of commands and deleted it.

What I did was:

Modifier 1 / button-inc
Modifier 1 / modCon M1=2 / button-direct / value=0
Effect Selector / modCon M1=0 / button direct / value= first effect from list
Effect Selector / modCon M1=1 / button direct / value= second effect from list
Effect Selector / modCon M1=2 / button direct / value= third effect from list
Effect Selector / 0 - 2
Effect Selector / 0 - 3
Effect Selector / 0 - 4

Hope this helps.

Ill ive that a try.

Should that same concept work without using MOdifiers? (Just using the output led t follow Event selector) Is there a reason you go 0 2 0 3 0 4 on the controll ranges, at what point do you use individual ranges? 1 1 2 2 etc?

At this point a simple modifier set to 1 or 0 on a button push.. wont set a certain button a color with a modifier out mapping… I must completely misunderstand the output part of this because its definately not working as it should be from the various other mappings ive looked at

Absolutely not. Without a modifier Traktor can’t know which of effects is programed to be loaded in three value order.

It’s how my controller displays it, you might need to use 1-1, 2-2 etc for yours.

Question here.. How does your modifier 1 ever reach 0? If the button press increments it, and then it resets it if its = 2 to 0 then its still going to increment it once. (This is the behavior I am getting) therefore always skipping one. Also because of the way it seems to be executing the commands, this particular mapping setup doesnt seem to work for me (It never changes the effect)

I’m blind here mate. Maybe you should post your current settings so I can check it for you and see for issues.

Just made a fresh mapping, so I can just mess around with this and send it over the forums.

I may have mis understood what you posted, so see if you see what I did wrong here. Im sure im just missing a few key concepts

Whats wierd is when I tried doing this in a fresh mapping the increment loop on the modifier worked fine.. but in my other filled up mapping file it does not work correctly. Its driving me nuts HAH

Thanks for all your help

Effect Selector output (G#1) has M1=1 as modifier condition - you should remove it.

As for not workig in my mapping part it’s something you should wrap on your own. Alternative would be to add new generic device and map in only this feature to overcome possibility of clashing modifiers.

Yes I made a new device just mostly to test this feature

The issue as of now is the LEDs just dont respond correctly. It will cycle off orange green, with that setup you see there. Ill keep working on it.. Youd think a computer programmer wouldnt have such a hard time wrapping his head around this

Also just noticed.. if I change the FX via the interface on traktor, between the three, the LEDs light up correctly as they change them… just not if I use the button. And since theres nothing influencing the modifier change the color just which FX, then this could feasably be done with no modifier and just cycling the event selector (Off, red(fx1), oran)ge(fx2), green (fx3) ) Guess I just dont understand why the LEDs arent reacting c orrectly with a button push vs interface change

Feels like The Xone is sending additional midi messages thats contradicting what I want the Feedback to do

Take that back, the Red is no longer lighting up when on beat masher, but the orange and green do change up with Interface changes.. Geeesh
