Xone K2: Quick Sound Check by Traktor Bible.

Those of you interested in the sound quality of the onboard soundcard in the Allen & Heath Xone K2 may find this little sound check test of interest.

Quick Sound Check

Although I am glad to hear that somebody tested it and digital is still digital, i mean pretty hard to mess it up that much.

I would need multiple references to make sure. I.e. club setting, headphones, other headphones, and home monitors…but honestly I think what we all need to say is that if its not coming out of a djm-800 it should all sound about the same.

You are right. It would be better, for example, if I you could put my cans on, or plug your ones into my mixer. The queck is limited, I agree. We did it mainly because ppl were wondering how good the audio interface (and it’s D/A converter) are.
That’s why we created the setup as we did. The track is the same. The mixer is the same. Only difference is the digital-analogue conversion done inside the audio interfaces.

Hope that clears up things a bit.

Quick Check

Brilliant, thats going in my vocabulary.

Usage:

Karlos “is it raining”
Rainer “i’ll just have a queck”
Rainer “no its fine”
Karlos “great let’s go out and get drunk”

I did another queck. I am missing one white box ;(

I’ll be doing a queck of the post on thursday/friday then

Hey Rainer & Karl,

love your work. So basically you’re suggesting that I shouldn’t consider the purchase of a Traktor Audio 10 (since I’m going to own a DB2 in the not so far away future - and I couldn’t care less about timecode), but instead use 2 Xone:K2’s for the times that I’m playing out?

Difficult to say.

I’m now playing around with a DB4 and a K2 since some weeks, and for me one K2 is enough to access the Traktor features I use (like key change, pitchbending, load, play, seeking, hotcues). I would think that two K2 is overkill in combination with a DB2 or DB4.

But it depends on how you mix and what you use.

If you wanna buy a DB2/DB4 later, I would save the money and not buy two K2.
