Would be nice to see Pioneer/A&H come up with a decent XY pad on common club mixers ( e.g DJM900) to control any 2 assignable parameters, which can be set to release when you take your finger off.
I think most of you will know what I mean.. Sometimes it feels like you need another pair of hands to control multiple knobs/faders, especially when building to a drop.
I say this because I’ll often use fx such as echo/filter as a track is in a breakdown and moving towards a drop.. and at the same time as the track drops I need to hit play on the next track.. BUT you need to turn 2 knobs back down (e.g echo & filter)… Shit I’ve run out of hands…
Why not have it built in? The effects are already there generated by the mixer I’d just like to see a more flexible way to control them.. I don’t want to be going in behind mixers, setting up additional gear and using send/returns..
Also, never seen or played on a Korg mixer in a club installation.. I’m sure it’s a cool mixer but I’m talking about the common club installed mixers, mainly pioneer.
Just checked this out. From what I can see it’s a MIDI XY pad which is assignable to things on a laptop. Unless there’s a way to route this to control internal fx.
Well hate to break it to you but what have in mind does not exist, and it is not very likely that something comes round in the near future that will resemble exactly what you want. So I think it’s best that you either be content with knobs for effects or get a little piece of gear that will do what you want (at the cost of some minor inconveniences such as the required 30 second set up time)
As with everything there is no such thing as the holy grail of mixers, there is no such thing as the perfect piece of kit.
Ever heard of innovation? I thought the whole point of forums was to discuss tech and generate new ideas.. You’ve probably never played in a club so might not understand how a feature like this will benefit DJ’s..
Didn’t expect to see such a negative/aggressive reply on this thread.. Why is it unlikely to be developed? Why would it not come round in the near future? Why settle for sub-par equipment? Who said there can’t be the perfect mixer? Why plug in a crappy battery powered external fx unit when everything else is already there?..
I’m striving for innovation and development but you clearly don’t share those feelings. By the sounds of it you’re content with your antiquated gear.
Sorry I didn’t mean to offend, I might have been to rude.
But this is just my point of view, we here the people of DJTT are not product designers over at pioneer or A&H. We do not have the resources to make a new mixer, we can only speculate or …
It 's quite clear you want this XY pad on a high end pioneer mixer so that clubs will have it, but I think it’s unlikely pioneer will come out with such a mixer because it 's clearly an effects thing you seek after and Pioneer 's most recent take on in depth effects is the RMX-1000. I think that will stay that way for a while. (granted I am no expert, but economically it’s pretty likely)
And you 're not pleased with the touch screen of the DJM 2000 Nexus
A&H also have an in depth effects thing going on, the DB series of mixers, no XY pads there so A&H is mute as well.
With that said I when I was typing my previous post I was trying to find a way I can help you but I came to the conclusion that I can’t.
-Is there a pio A&H mixer w/ XY pad currently on the market ? No.
-Are they making one at the moment ? Not much speculation as of now, so no hard evidence on one w/ an XY pad.
That’s pretty much it really. You want something that does not exist, and will probably only become a reality in a couple of years.
I thought it was best you had some closure.
And P.S. not a big fan of effects so there isn’t much reason for me to keep track of this thread, I only tried to help but it’s turning into an arguement so it’s best that I just stop following this thread.
I’m fine, sure @myusername is too. Not here to cause arguments or get into a forum row, I just don’t appreciate sarcastic, closed minded, dismissive replies.
