I installed my first DJ software back in 1999, when I was still running Win95. The name of the program was “Virtual Turntables”, and it allows to load all the tracks the RAM can manage. I used to work with 3-4 tracks at once. It supported WAVs and MP3s.
At that time, I got two sound cards on my destop PC (not SoundBlaster 'cause the IRQ conflicts). The product was discontinued in 2001, but the website still works: http://www.carrotinnovations.com/vtt_overview.shtml
VTT was the door to a brand new world of digital audio manipulation. And I’m thankful.
I bought a box of CD labels to start organizing my tracks I had illegally downloaded and it came with a free copy of eJay. I put it on the comp, installed a second soundcard to preview, and just started working. From there it was on to Final Scratch 2.
traktor dj studio 2 … I just played around with it for fun. Although I knew how to beatmatch with vinyl (learned on my friends turntable setup) I didn’t consider myself a DJ at that point.
It wasn’t until Traktor 3 was released that I started taking it much more seriously. I bedroom DJ’d constantly for about 2 years then eventually got into doing gigs/promoting.
woah woah woah..lets not get too complicated here.
i can barely think about play pause! i mean, i am a girl. lets just keep it simple. i have my boyfriend make me a playlist beforehand, and i press play when i’m at the party…
i had traktor 1.2 or something for a few years before i knew what it was (thanks to my cuz). i borrowed ejay off a mate, got bored of that pretty quick. then i eventually got ableton and hell broke loose from there
In 2001 I worked as a promoter on a big measure in germany called IFA in Berlin.
It was for a software company they had a software called “MJ Xtreme” (as the guys from steinberg came to our place - they said: Oh I have an offer about such a tool on my desk…)
We made there 5 shows a day - me on the computer - behind me 2 big plasma TVs where the crowd could see what i did - cool time ( I only played my own tracks..)
and there were no sync function…
but the change from TT to PC were with Traktor 3 in 2007
I think it was taktor 2, but i didnt stick with it for very long at all and decided to just keep producing
When i decided to go back to djing and give a serious shot Traktor 3 was out, but i tried pretty much every dj program i could get my hands on before deciding to stick with Traktor.
