cool info - very useful if mapping direct from traktor.

most colors also have a 'mid' color as well as high and low, and every color can also be made to 'flash' as well, tho u need to send an extra message first to enable the flashing colors. there's also an 'amber' which i actually prefer to the orange.

this is my list of just the midi values needed for all the colors: http://midimasher.djism.com/lua/lib/launchpad.lua

This is really usefull info. I have just partially made a mapping for my launchpad to use with my mac and kontrol s4. I had just worked this out but one thing I cant do is work out how to get the pads to flash? Can someone try and explain please. Also I can get colours on or off but cant get colours on one pad to change ie red for off and green for on. Is this possible? I am not using any other software just mapping straight from Traktor.
    Thanks in advance.

to have one color for off (but not 'no color' off) and a different color for 'on' you'd need to add two out's in traktor with different controller and midi ranges for the same control. i don't do any mapping direct in traktor these days and haven't tried to do that. if you haven't already you should pick up a copy of xtreme mapping, that's what i'm using now when i do need to add extra tsi entries for my midimasher. it only cost about 5$ i think in the apps store.

to enable flashing u have to send a one time message of CC00 on midi channel 1 a value of 0x28 - no clue how u can do that directly from traktor.

by default the launchpad won't flash - so any flashing color will seem the same as a non flashing color.

the only difference between a flashing color value and a solid color is that the solid one has the "copy bit" set which tells the launchpad to set that color for both it's internal buffers. sending that CC00 tells the launchpad to cycle between it's two buffers

the launchpad has quite a few cool features that u can't really access without using middleware software. i released a mac version of my midimasher today - u could always download the dmg and click on 'launchpad' and see the virtual layers etc that it can give u with nice led recall etc...

    Cheers Zestoi
I will give it a try at the weekend as I am away with work at the moment. I have already got xtreme mapping from the app store, just not had time to use it yet. Will let you know how I get on once ive started playing with it. I managed to work out all the colours and modifiers etc ok so shouldn't be too tricky once I understand the pattern if you know what I mean.

I have tried all weekend zestoi and cant figure out flashing LEDs or one button in 2 states of colour. I even tried through xtreme mapping and it seems the same as the traktor learn facility, dont know the benefits of it yet. Can someone post a basic .tsi on here so I can have a look and see what I am doing wrong. Cheers

mapping multiple colours to buttons is fairly easy - in traktor you need to set more than one out for the same control with varying controller ranges and midi ranges to match what you want to do. it's pretty fiddly tho...

flashing led's are trickier... you first need to send that one time CC on midi channel 1 with a value of 0x28 to enable flashing in the launchpad. i don't think i've seen anyone manage that just using the launchpad working directly with traktor - tho u could have some button that's only use is when u press it it sends that to the launchpad.

i wouldn't even start to try creating flashing leds with two states of colours tho, much easier for the off to be off and the on to the the colour you want.

when in flashing mode the launchpad flips between two internal banks/memories of what colours each pad has. when you set a normal colour both banks get set to the same colour and hence flash. when setting a flashing colour only the current bank is set, leaving the other bank as it was, or off. to do anything more advanced like setting colours for both banks and/or synching the flashing to some external source you really need additional software.

tho in theory the flashing in the launchpad could be synched to traktors beatphase if you can send a CC000 with value 0x21 and value 0x20 alternating from the traktor beatphase monitor.
