    Default Traktor Pro 2.5 - Tag - Tip !

    hi folks.

iīm pretty new to traktor, so maybe this information my sound very trivial but i though to share this with you. could be a help for someone as it was for me.

    ok. here we go.

i just finished to tag my loops and oneshots in traktor pro 2.5 (all in .wav format files) and i encountered one problem (well, at least for me it was a problem)

after importing a new folder into my track collection, traktor will give my another file-name as title which is way less informativ than the original one which i prefer.

    for example:
lets say i have a folder with a loop called

    Bpm128_GoodLife_C#m_Chords05

what i like about that actual file name is, i have all information i need in the filename which is: BPM, name, key, type

but traktor wonīt give me the file-name in "title" which i would like to have...

its changing this into a title-name in something like "Loopmaster Chords 1"

after while i discovered a workaround which is pretty simple.
    1. import the folder/files as usual (right mouse-click - import to collection)
    2. go to track collection and choose AT LEAST TWO ore more files you would like to change the filename. donīt ask me why, but i wonīt work if you choose just one file..) so do mulitple choice with the cmd-key.
    3. right-click / edit
    4. now, delete the title-name and tick the title-name checkbox and press enter

if you have a look at that edited samples, the title-name should be gone. in other words, it sees like you removed the title-name of these loops. but, now, when you close and restart traktor it will have the title name corresponding to the real file-name. exactly the file name which appears in my osx/finder.

for me, this workaround was a big help, because working with ableton most of my loops and oneshots i know by name and have all the information i need in one line....

let me know how it goes...

It looks like when you change the name of the loop initially your not actually changing the ID3 tag. When Traktor pulls it in it's calling it what's in the ID3 tag instead of what you named it.

I'm confused. I thought ID3 tags are in MP3 files and monoraural says he's talking about WAV files.

sorry, if i was confusing you guys.

as i re-read my post, i realized, that i didīt really make clear the difference between the file-name and the title-name (which is deposite in the file id tag and shown by traktor as TITLE.

i actually edited my entry post. hope this helps.

    uh... hope this was clear.
sorry, dudes, not a native speaker, as you probably have noticed
