Newbie wanting set up

Hi

Iv decided give mixing music and dabbling in djing a go, I don't expect miracles but hopefully can learn and start getting alright at it.

Only thing is is that I'm torn between two pieces of equipment! Obviously Iv never done this before so would greatly appreciate any of your inputs.
The two I'm torn between are...

Numark Mixtrack Pro 3

or

Hercules universal dual deck and mixer

Both have pros and cons such as being able to record ect personally I prefer the style of the numark but something is still making me question it and think about the Hercules....... For example the Hercules software looks better (djuced) and the record feature.

What would you go for?

I always strongly recommend a second hand S4 MK I to new DJ's, they are high quality devices, have every function you need, can be had for 200 euros and you can sell them for practicaly the same price if you later on decide to quit DJ'ing.

Thank you for your reply, I hadn't heard of this one before but been having a look.
Someone else mentioned that pioneer was my best option with it being the best quality ect which is how I found the pioneer ddj sb 2, have you got any opinions one this?

Im abit dubious about buying second hand as im a complete beginner I wouldn't be too sure if something was wrong/missing ect

Don't get into Hercules, that company is a complete joke. The DDJ SB2 is good for a beginner, but you have to calculate a full software into your price. The ''intro'' version that comes with most softwares just doens't quite cut it. If you're going to be spending 250 dollars on a SB2 and full version serato of 150 dollars, you might aswell get the NI Traktor S2 MK2 (new) for 350 dollars. Traktor is easy for beginners and has all the functions you'd expect.

Well after a while you develop some sort of preference for certain manufacturers, I think the Native Instruments gear is excellent but somehow really dislike pioneer (digital) gear. Also, all of my current gear (see signature) is bought second hand, with a little common sense and a seller that seems trustworthy you'll most likely be fine.

I have to agree here. If you can get a second hand mk1 it is a phenomenal starter. I just sold my MK1 to a friend of mine who wanted to start and got a new MK2. I didn't want the S5 for various reasons but that isn't the point. The S4 is SUCH a powerful piece that there are very few things that feel "limiting" about it.

The only thing I dislike is that you control the C and D decks using a button to change decks but that is hardly a complain as there are MANY work arounds in terms of future gear to make it more convenient. The controller is just phenomenal and honestly I would use it until you can stomach the cost of a solid DJM and CDJs
