Actually that video was a major factor into what made me really excited with the possibilities and decide to actually do what I had to do to buy this mixer. major.

Chiming in here to add my DB4 to the injured reserve list - getting a lot of noise on the right channel of the master XLR out. No idea what kind of process I need to go through to get it repaired/replaced, but I assume it won't be quick or easy, especially if I have to mail it across the pond.
Bloody hell these things are dodgy...
I think it depends on where you live.
When I went to visit a friend in the Middle East who had just bought one. There was nothing wrong with hers and it has an an ealier S/N than mine.
With all the radio waves flying around due to cell phone towers, satellite radios, etc. in Canada/US the DB4 could just be vulnerable to picking these stray frequencies.
I don't know... I'm just guessing.
My problem was with using just the phono inputs. I was getting a wierd, but faint, squeel signal... somthing like satellite feed. Since I get my own vinyl pressed, having the squeel was not good enough for me.
When using the digital and ubs inputs the DB4 was absolutly silent.
When I brought the machine to a friend to have thresholds tested, he couldn't find anything that would be problematic. Everything was at a acceptable range.
My Middleastern friend will be comming to visit me for Christmas and I've asked her to bring it so we can see if she gets the same squeel.
Its not an input issue - the noise is still prevalent with nothing plugged in and the master out at 0. Its very strange as it is consistent - the noise is always there on the right channel to some degree, but it may be barely audible for 10 minutes then just pop in full blast for 30 seconds and go away again.
I paid full price through an authorized retailer. I hope that's not "grey market". Either way I'm wondering what caused this issue as mine was fine for months.Quote:
For a 2,500 piece of kit I was thinking the same thing but I almost wonder if folks are dealing with grey market goods.
Hey guys,
So I just brought home my replacement, new-in-box, unit. Judging by the s/n it's only 7 units later than the previous.
I still get the same faint squeel with the NEW unit when the channels are switched to analogue, and the phono is selected on both the 2nd and 3rd channels. Again, nothing connected to the mixer except the power cord. But it's not as bad.
But I do have something else that I never encountered or checked with the old unit. I notice that when I have music running on a channel, the fader up, master down to zero, the headphone at zero, I can hear the track faintly playing in my headphones. The headphone setting is at +0.0.
I can come to conclude/justify a reason in my head IF this is a design feature, BUT do any of you have this?
Usually when you have the headphone volume at zero you shouldn't be able to hear anything.
For the guy who posted the dodgy mixer comment.... I agree.
I'm thinking I shoud return it and get a full refund while I still can. Then wait a year, because I still love how the mixer sounds.
