Yes they did but quickly.
Always loved disco, but always thought playing big room was what you had to do to get booked. With the help of some veteran dj's I got set straight very quickly on that.
Once I discovered there were places where I could play disco, then it was off to the races!
Disco led into House (good house). House led into Techno. Techno led into trance. But all that time I still play house and disco. Trance led into breaks. Breaks led into Jungle and DnB.
As of right now I really do rotate my mixes online with different genres. It will not be unusual for me to play an all house set on one side of town and then go to a club 10 miles away and lay down an all DnB or Breaks set in the same night.
Personally It brings me the greatest pleasure to play multi genre sets. I need the variation otherwise I get very frustrated. It may not be the best thing to do if you want to create a worldwide name for yourself. But as a regional DJ thats where its at!
