It's mainly aimed at TDJ users, and the app only supports 2 channels. You could always use 2 of them for TPro usage if you want 4 channels.
What upsets me is to see them constantly put out products and neglect their optional abilities within the software.
Familiarity, reliability, and the fact that you know exactly what condition your gear is in and that nobody has abused it. To me, that's invaluable - hence why I take a 4 channel mixer down with me along with the rest of the gear when I'm using a modular setup. When I get one of these (it was going to be the MM-1, but NI win this round :p!), I'll be taking this instead. In fact, I'll probably sell my 4 channel mixer.Quote:

What $2000 mixer is this comparable? Have you ever actually mixed on a DJ mixer? My biggest gripe about traktor and the S4 is the mixer and mixing internally. Then I thought - WTF, 199 for a 2 channel mixer with essentially no additional Midi functions, a 2ch soundcard and fisher price version of traktor ...huh ?
I get the idea behind the F1, I get the idea behind the Z2, I really don't get the idea behind this or who it appeals to considering you'd need extra controllers to get the most out of it which will add another $300-400 to the price and you are into s2/s4 territory :huh:
Allen and Heath's K2 has more controls, is also IOS compatible, oodles of controls AND a case for $50 extra !

About 3: Do you seriously think that this has the same sound quality of an Audio 10 for example? I mean, we are talking about a 199$ CONTROLLER, with buttons and knobs n shit on them, that happens to have a soundcard integrated. It will be nowhere NEAR the quality of a flagship NI Soundcard.
I can't see this competing against the Allen Heath K2 or Behringer MM-1. Behringer has all of it's features except soundcard, but it does 4 channel. Allen heath really does it everything better than this. What's the point NI?
And by the way, it's normal 2000NXS isn't still seen in many places as it is fairly "new" yet. About the other mixers, around where I live, every good club is 900NXS (800 on some small bars by the beach). More in the underground scene, they either have :92 or DB4. True story.
The Audio 2 has similar audio quality to the Audio 10 as far as I know, and there's no reason why the Z1 would be any worse than the A2.
Does internal mixing really sound that bad on a basic club setup? I like it but only because I just want a simple midi mixer to mix internally.
edit: The K2 can work as a mixer but the lack of center click is the reason I don't own one. Food for thought.
Ignore them. You don't need a $2000 dollar mixer. In fact, I'd argue that in terms of effects and sound, you've got more flexibility and more features from Traktor Pro and a MIDI control surface than on even the highest end DJ mixer. If you're comfortable using your Mixtrack at the moment, then a VERY reasonable upgrade path would be a pair of modular controllers and one of these.Quote:

Yep that's exactly the point. It's supposed to be a bit of fun with decent converters ( safe to assume it will have the same as every other NI soundcard). It allows to you charge your iPad while playing and gives you some basic midi control. For 199 dollars its a bargain. Will it change anything in the real world of club DJing? It's not the sound coming out of Traktor that is bad, it's the EQ's that are bad. Choose the Xone:92 EQ in Traktor preferences.
Mix internally for an hour or so.
Now put your hands on a real Xone:92 and mix for another hour. You WILL notice the HUGE difference between digital software and analog EQ's and filters, and start to hate internal mixing.
This controller is NOTHING NEW. Internal mixing exists for YEARS now. MANY other controllers like this EXIST FOR YEARS (with better layouts and stuff but that is my personal opinion).
AND NOBODY USES IT. I mean, name ONE big name DJ/Producer/whatever that uses internal mixing Live. I don't know anyone to be honest.
Don't take me wrong, I'm not against NI in any way (I recently purchased two X1's which I love), but this new Z1 in my opinion is simply pointless. Begginer DJ's will want an all-in-one controller (Mixtracks, whatever).
When they begin to start feeling comfortable they will want a MIXER. Behringers, Reloops, low price Vestax's, etc. After that they will want good controllers. (X1's, K2's, Contours, Faderfox's, etcetc).
I speak for myself as that is/was what is/was happening with me ;)

Sorry to say mate, but when I was 16 I got an apprenticeship and saved $1600 for some turntables and $600 for a mixer not to mention all the vinyl that I was buying. Saving took me about 6 months.Quote:
