A report on the number of Traktor Scratch vs Traktor Pro licenses purchased this year would be interesting to see... I nominate Karlos to ask NI nicely for some stats
i would love to but i have no interest in these stats,

i retract what i said about price its not that expensive but what i was trying to say before people jumped on me was they kept it to 2 channels due to the price point.. the lower the better when it comes to IOS users.

It's mainly aimed at TDJ users, and the app only supports 2 channels. You could always use 2 of them for TPro usage if you want 4 channels.

What upsets me is to see them constantly put out products and neglect their optional abilities within the software.

Your X1 already controls FX so I don't see what the point of having a Z1 is. DJM 750+ have a whole bunch of FX anyways if you aren't using Traktor.
Familiarity, reliability, and the fact that you know exactly what condition your gear is in and that nobody has abused it. To me, that's invaluable - hence why I take a 4 channel mixer down with me along with the rest of the gear when I'm using a modular setup. When I get one of these (it was going to be the MM-1, but NI win this round ), I'll be taking this instead. In fact, I'll probably sell my 4 channel mixer.

If it helps, there's mention on the site of the Z1 controlling TWO different types of filters when used with Traktor Pro; a high resonance and a low resonance one. Whether that's just a mapping thing, and makes use of the Filter effect, or if they're adding new "Filter types" (like Z ISO, Xone, Pioneer) into TP2, I suppose we won't know for sure until the unit comes out.

EDIT: Here's the quote, for clarity's sake:

When using TRAKTOR PRO 2, the Mode button toggles between low- and high-resonance filters.

What $2000 mixer is this comparable? Have you ever actually mixed on a DJ mixer? My biggest gripe about traktor and the S4 is the mixer and mixing internally. It is nowhere near as good or as accurate as mixing on a real dj mixer with real VU meters, real EQ and real filters. The S4 mixer is basically a toy compared to my DJM800. I actually went back to CDJs just so I could use the DJM instead of the S4 mixer.

Software mixers have not gotten to the point (YET) that they can replace a DJM or A&H or Rane yet.

Traditional in the sense of doing it how it's always been done, not in the sense of age.

Why in the heck would anyone use two of them and have to change the traditional / simplistic way of mixing? I have to use "two" crossfaders now wtf? Sounds like a disaster for a live set.

You're not likely to be using a crossfader for 4 deck mixing are you?

you can always remove crossfader assignments, so they do nothing when you move them. this will eliminate any accidents.

    This

I will say this, I've owned an S4 and got rid of it, sound quality was terrible (to me at least)
