I was talking about the latency between the sound wave leaving a speaker and entering your ear which can be variable can't it?
If the speaker is further, the latency would be longer, would it not?

I believe the 'latency' being referred to here concerning surround sound systems is due in part to the delays built into a 5.1 system. By setting the receiver to 'stereo' or a dolby 2.1 preset you shouldn't have that problem. At least that's been my experience with home systems...
Yeah, I tried it on my home Theater System here at home and there's no noticeable latency if I put it on stereo but virtual surround is a bit slow.
Buy some cheap monitors
Just got back from my first Gig :D
Everything went great! The Bose system worked wonders. Very loud and clear Bass, and the speakers held out all night! :D
People loved my music and mixing! I just need some more Spanish & Polish music (Personal, but any Suggestions?) Thanks for all the tips so far, DJ Tech Tools! Hope to get more advice and tips to make my next gig even better :D
