How do I figure.. are you watching the show.. Thats how I figure... And oh I see since they have 4 minutes, and its a competition .. you have to scratch.. forgive me.. I didnt realize there wasnt any other way to transition into songs quickly... how could I be so blind.....
While I don't like him... how did he shit on I Dee? Every other DJ had no issues getting their laptops to function with the setup. I-Dee screwed himself by clearly not having proper functioning hardware. He didnt do anything, were people suppose to kiss his as because he previously won a scratch competition?
Well, since this forum is full of misinformation and ignorance.. Ill fit right in wont I? How am I one sided because I dont like scratching? Interesting opinion... you know what they say about those right?
Why do I need to look up people ive seen and heard...... I still dont like it.. never will. I think it sounds awful, and thats my opinion. Such is life.
Its a DJ competition yes... but they are getting 250 grand and their name highly exposed.. why would I care how well they scratched on the show if I wouldnt go to a club to see that. Hardly any of those sets played by any of those DJs was enjoyable.. There were a few that werent to bad.. I cant remember his name, but how the man did some vinyl work on the Popcorn song was tasteful... and then he went to overboard with the scratching for my tastes.
Im sorry for being ignorant because I dont like something. What don't you like, so I can call you ignorant for not enjoying that particular thing.
I dont like scratching either, but I can recognize a good set when I hear one. I dont like Progressive house, but I can tell when a song will be a hit/is catchy as opposed to being entirely shitty.
Its ignorant because completely seeing scratching as shitty and useless is absurd. Theres still a huge hip hop community that enjoys that, so IN A COMPETITION, it is a skill that should be recognized. Just cause YOU don't enjoy it, doesnt mean the entire world shouldnt enjoy it, and if theres a big enough audience for it, it should be judged in a competition.
by the way, are you ALWAYS filled with so much angst? Or just on the DJTT forums. seems like every forum you post it, you bring this huge negative vibe. sour grapes indeed. someone must be mad at the world. Reminds me of when I was 13
Good.. so they can enjoy away. But because I dont like it... and its useless TO ME.. and MY STYLE.. and I DONT ENJOY it.. in no way makes me ignorant.
So in a COMPETITION.. named... MASTER OF THE MIX.... its a skill that can be used tastefully.. but not every damn transition... Again, im not sure where you gather because I dont like it, that the rest of the people who like it can't. But Im sorry, I must have missed the promo where this was a Hip Hop DJ competition.
You seem to have a very hard F'ing time reading.
Yes and by watching the show I see 3 out of the 4 best scratchers have received no such bias from Kid Capri, and upon hearing the best scratching on the show he didn't even comment on it. You saying he cares only about scratching seems to be based on Kid Capri bring a hip-hop DJ and you equating that to him loving scratching, rather than the fact that in reality he hasn't shown any sort of favoritism to the best scratchers on the show.
You are pretty blind if you think someone's going to have a better shot at impressing judges by club mixing for 3 minutes than they are doing a 3 minute hip-hop style/scratch heavy set. You don't seem to get that even though it's a competition for club DJs, the key word is COMPETITION not CLUB. It's not just scratchers vs. club DJs, many of the contestants are great at both. It's experienced competitive DJs vs. inexperienced competitive DJs, it's people who have 30 years of history in their background in a similar format vs. people who haven't previously had to worry about what they can do in a few minutes.Quote:

Do I think the format is fair for all types of DJs? No, it's extremely favourable for scratching, trick mixing, and hip-hop style DJing. But you complaining about someone not just mixing for a 3 minute set is like a someone complaining about a DJ not just scratching for an hour long set and being like "IT'S NOT A FREAKING BLEND OFF, HOW COME PEOPLE AREN'T SCRATCHING FOR THE WHOLE SET?". Even though I love scratching, I'm not an idiot and can see why that's not gonna cut it.
In a perfect world something like 30-45 minute sets would start to become fair, but I don't see how you could possibly translate 30-45 minute sets to TV. 3 minute sets are already pretty much edited beyond recognition.
Just watched the 2nd episode. Pretty entertaining show to me.
