Bluetooth Midi Fighter?

Hi guys,

Sorry in advance if it's been asked before, I did give a quick search but couldn't turn up any results.

Can I bluetooth enable my Midi Fighters? I have both the 3d and the Twister and love them. My only grievance is being tethered to my computer. Does anyone know of a way to adapt a Midi Fighter to run wirelessly?

If not, does anyone know of an alternative product that IS bluetooth enabled out of the box? It seems kind of ridiculous that my trackpad and keyboard are wireless and yet my midi controller isn't. I know there are concerns like power and latency but surely there must be a workable solution.

I don't think there is anything like this on the market. The software would need to be able to accept an input from Bluetooth as well.... for example Traktor will only find a controller when it is connected via USB.. so even if your controller was bluetooth, Traktor would never find it.

Somebody will correct me if I am wrong.

It may be possible with some sort of device/dongle/software that takes care of the USB needs.

You also need to take into account power, which is provided to the device over USB, it would need to take batteries or be rechargeable.

well there is the QuNeo that has a wireless adapter but wireless comes with latency guys so unless you really really need it i would avoid it.

It can be done, but you will need a battery for both the midifighter and bluetooth transmitter.

ahhh fuck it I'll just keep using or an iPhone and TouchOSC when I want to perform wirelessly

but how sweet would a wireless Midi Twister be??

latency (<10ms) over wireless is not that an issue especially if you're doing literally anything except for finger drumming

i think this would be the easiest way to convert the mf classic. because i have thought about using this https://www.adafruit.com/products/1588 on mine with a lithium battery which should work and with minimal soldering. but having never seen the inside of the twister of 3d this might not work with those guys

I have a Puc Plus Bluetooth midi adapter. I've not tried it with my midifighters but there is no reason why it wouldn't work.

It works great over 5 pin DIN midi with my Roland AX-7, no lag, no reliability issues so far. The only issue is the DIN socket is quite recessed so I needed to trim a little of the shroud from my DIN plug to make it fit properly.

thanks for the suggestion, the Puc seems like a really cool product. The only issue I can see is that it looks like it relies on a 5 pin connection, which the MIDI fighter doesn't have-- all it has is USB.
