    Default The possibilities with Usb-c

Now that usb-c is on the verge of becoming the new standard for connecting devices what will this mean
in terms of possibilities for new hardware? For example; The need for dedicated power supplies will be removed on many devices, transfer rates will increase alot etc. This opens up for more fully usb powered dj-controllers with balanced outputs, more connectors, and so on. Anyone know how the industry is preparing for this and what kind of hardware is in the planning? I think we will see a lot of exciting new stuff with the introduction of the new usb-c ports and connectors. Some advantages to point out:

    • high power output of up to 20V(100W) and 5A
    • bi-directional power
    • top speed of 10Gbps

There was a shitload of problems with USB 3.0, this will be just the same - nothing to get excited about.

The problem with lack of reverse compatibility is a longer length of time to create a standard. Considering I already have to disable USB 3.0 on both of my laptops to utilize legacy devices, I can only imagine the issues that will come from C. I was excited when it was in development, but seeing the port type even change is really head scratching.
