DJ.you.s.bee's arguments are old classic ones. All valid. But the spec that we don't see is how all this stuff (you listed components) is tied together.

Dell's QC is not the greatest (by reputation and my experience with them at work). Apple have their issues too (like my bluetooth keeps cutting out, and its either my new wireless Apple keyboard or Itch screwing things up). And no company in their right mind is going to tell you where they cut corners to meet a price point. So this argument ends in stalemate.

The shear number of people in music that use macs is a big selling point, but do we use them because everyone else does?

This topic gets boring quickly, I'll go back to arguing about football vs. ice hockey.

:: yawn :: buy what you can afford at first, get paid gigs, make lots of money, buy expensive controllers, then buy a highend mac or pc and call it a day!

If you have the money go with the mac. I've been a well-knowledge PC user for 18 years now. I just find it to be cumbersome at this point in my life to deal with constant tweaking and maintenance. I bought a used 13" MacBook a year ago and I am loving how little I need to do to keep it running smooth (nothing).

    Default Mac or PC

I have owned both and worked as a Tech on both and If I had the cash then a macbook pro with maccover would be my choice if i had cash to burn, but as I kinda know the ins and outs of both then bang for buck and if you are not a retard then a PC/Laptop In my own opinion.

I have ran serato on both formats and gigged live with them each for over six months back in 2006 and had no issues with either.
