Who are "The Beatles" of Dance Music ?

Since when is it suddenly hip to hate Fatboy Slim? I noticed a HUGE backlash during the last few months. Did I miss anything?

And Basement Jaxx were a pale imitation of the Chems.

And this is something I seriously have to disagree with. The Chemicals always sounded like the Chemicals and the Jaxx like the Jaxx. Which is pretty much something that they seriously have in common: Both have a unique, very easy recognizable sound, but they somehow managed to never really repeat themself. (Although I would rate the Chemicals definitely higher, because the last Basement Jaxx album bored me to tears.)

That is very very true and exactly what i thought.

Basement Jaxx have always been more of genuine dance act rather than a crossover.

Their first releases on their own Atlantic Jaxx label are still some of the best jackin', rushing, crazy house records i own.

Interesting you say this, as I read somewhere in teh early days that they have based their entire sound on trying to recreate the loop sound from the Beatles' Tomorrow Never Knows. Just listen to it and it comes to light, something that may not twig unless you read/heard it from Tim and Ed before.....

Over the years they have played many many Beatles songs in the live sets.
Traditionally finishing on the outro of Sgt Peppers.

But its there use of Willie Hutchs 'brothers gonna work it out" that i love !
