I like when I search for classics on Beatport I get stuff that's like six months old.

I've noticed Beatport does "reissues" of old tracks and gives them a new date. I've bought tracks on there that were released in 1999 and the date on Beatport says 2009.

The members of this forum have never and will never resort to petty insults on the Serato forum. I havent read any.

Whatever the members on this forum say isnt actually directed at anyone inparticular and the insults are aimed at the Serato members that are simply trouble makers, not the general membership.
Some of the members of the Serato forum are insulting to the members of this forum, Traktor, NI and pretty much anyone and anything (some of us by name for gods sake)

Im not sure if your aware but this bad attitude has pervaded the Serato forum for years and the Mods do little to stop it.

I hear what your saying but to honest, and probably childish sounding, they started it.

I definitely dont agree that you should always take the shit . You gotta say what needs saying sometimes. If you read any of the posts made my members of this forum in the Serato thread you will see that everyone has tried their utmost to be polite and to construct well thought out answers in the aim not to insult or enflame but to explain what we think.

Anyhoo, i think that thread has served us well in the long run. Those haters have made themselves look foolish.

btw- yes there is a hose-pipe ban in my area, and i live 15 feet away from the River Ribble and its right near the top of the flood defence.

I didn't read beyond the first 10 or 15 posts, but the general vibe I got from that thread was that if you don't beatmatch live, you're not a "real" DJ. That perception is what I typically hear from anti-laptop DJ's so it's kind of strange to see that coming from the Serato forum. Obviously, the people contributing to the Ean Hatorade aren't "real" DJ's either since they think beatmatching actually takes skill to do.

Beatmatching DOES take skill. It doesn't take inspiration or soul though. Just quite a lot of practice!

you're right, but after a few years it's nothing more than a nuisance - precious seconds wasted. even though I still beatmatch manually, I see myself going for sync sometime in the future so I can focus on using the turntable(s) for scratching and getting more out of my fx combos.

OK, maybe the skill reference wasn't the right choice of words, but they still think that beatmatching is the only thing that matters about being a DJ. It doesn't matter if you can plow through 50 songs that are mixed extremely creatively. What DOES matter is if you can play 5 songs that you beatmatched yourself. Like if you were to play the exact same set, mixed, programmed and flowing the same way, manually beatmatched and the other autobeatmatched, they would say the auto one sucked because it sounds "too perfect".

@NLT... agree absolutely. My favourite podcast, Beats in Space, is full of shonky mixing, mainly by producers turned deejays... and even this doesn't really matter so much 'cos the tunes are ace
