I'd say it's all in the way it's done. If you double drop two tracks and you can hear how well all the elements of both tracks work together it makes the two tracks have way more integrity. Like the track I threw in called Face Pump. By it's self it's a bit naked but double dropped it produces a lot of atmosphere behind something and can really drive up the energy.

I think he means playing them at the same time sort of like a live mashup

Everyone preplans in one way or another . I think leaving room to improvise is really important though .

If you're looking for a beefier mixtape, I did this 60 minute tape for the blog Salacious Sound which I still managed to pack with a shit ton of tracks.

I almost won a DJ contest to open for Hot Chip in Toronto with that one but I came in second because it wasn't really the genre they were looking for .

More tracks doesn't mean it's a good mix

Listening right now! You and I have a very similar style. Listening now, I'll do comments as I go:

*Kind of lose a lot of energy from Stickin @6:30. (but you bring back hey... thats pretty cool)

*Woooooah three songs at once! Respek!

*Slightly wack to play two Congorock songs right after eachother, but it worked fine can't judge you for it.

*Daaaaaaamn One into that Afrojack track was BEASTLY. Into Out of Body?! Respek!

*Not so crazy about Out of Body into Let the bass kick, there like two totally different style songs, Out of Body into Heads Will Roll works incredibly.

    *Semi-abrupt ending

*Overall: REALLY good. Especially with the levels man, it's really hard to balance levels when your mixing 3-4 tracks at the same time, good job!

If you want to check out any of my mixtapes, their all on my soundcloud/official.fm. I made an hour long mix in this style earlier in the year, took for fucking ever to make you have to plan everything to the T. Were you on a VCI? Because I was and it clearly wasn't made for 4 deck mixing man, you have to be super careful with the volume faders and you can't use any effects. Here's the mix, the song's aren't super fresh because I made it six months ago, but I think it's the best thing I've done. Let me know what you think if you get a chance to listen to it!
