I highly recommend checking out as many tutorial videos of Maschine as you can so you can start to really see what it can do .
so what your saying is i can make a beat with the mashine software and just drag it over in to my open live set in to a new channel?

shall be picking up one in the next month or so in time for the new update

LET ME KNOW AS ITS CHEAPER TO GET IT THIS WAY

    SAVES ALMOST $200

there is no difference in package content. Its just a different license you are officially not allowed to use for comercial purposes...

I played with one of these in Guitar Center the other day and I am pretty hooked on it... damn I wish companies would stop making shit I want to buy. How is the workflow with this and Ableton? Can you use this inside Ableton to run the drum rack? The software for Maschine was really cool; I felt like I was able to make beats right away with very little learning curve, at least for very basic stuff. With Ableton making drum tracks is a bit more challenging, but it would be a lot easier if I could play the drum kit on these pads, as I'm sure you can. But does that work if you have Maschine running too? Or is the hardware only able to talk to one prog at a time?

I already have a goddam list of expensive shit I need to buy. But I think this one might move up that list pretty quickly...

Honestly, the more I learn about the Maschine, the more I really enjoy it. If I was dedicated to getting Traktor for a DVS, it's something I would consider a lot more. But as far as production goes? I'd probably get this over any other pad controller out there at the moment.

DJ Endo has some videos on youtube w. Dubspot.com that really highlight this for use with Traktor. And actually, one of my favorite local DJ's also uses it (with an external mixer) to put on some really fantastic sets. Seeing it used live probably sold me more than anything.

I really see it as a perfect tool for someone who wants to do production, and DJing. It really can hit both brackets. It's price is fair for what it is as well, and it matches well with the other equipment from NI (have to say, vanity is a fair trait lol)

    It's absolutely badass.

My roommate and I are getting into production and DJing, him more into production as he has more of a musical background, me more into DJing since I'm new to any sort of musical performance. Starting piano lessons next week, once I have 6 months or so under my belt, I'll be more on the production side, too.

Anyway, I bought the S4, he got the Maschine.

We haven't even played with it for live performance, but the potential is INSANE for doing beats on the live, and collaborating with someone who is spinning, on, say, an S4, or anything that can send / receive a MIDI clock.

But even better is that the beat production is fucking retarded easy. Really amazing. There is such a small barrier between you and the sound that you want to make that the creativity that it unleashes is just astounding. (I'm talking about 10 days in a row of 5-8hrs / night of working on tracks until 4am, AFTER 2hrs of DJ practice. So addictive. My roomie and I joke that heroin is for pussies, Maschine is the hardest drug in the world).

I mean, there are things that aren't perfect, things I don't like, things that are frustrating when you just want to make a graded volume change and it's 3am and you've been working on a track for 5 hours, and it just WON'T FUCKING DO IT the way you think it should.

All that said, it's awesome and I could not recommend it more wholeheartedly, both for the software and hardware. (For the record, no experience with Live / Logic Pro / etc. so I can't say how it meshes if you're used to other workflow.)
