But I shouldn't have to suffer! I purchased the CDs, I want them on my iPod. Now they're on my iPod, why would I keep CDs if I'm a digital dj with no room for a huge case of CDs anymore! Absolute crap. I've followed the rules, I shouldn't get fucked over.

I try to grab as much stuff off beatport as I can, then amazon, then physical.
It's not AS serious problem in denmark as it is in the UK, US, etc. But I have heard of people getting pulled off stage for having non-legal music.

For me it's really hard to procure old old stuff legally. Like old pre-internet vinyl releases of house, etc. Getting that stuff without resorting to piracy, or at least while still being able to prove that it's yours, it really hard.

It doable, but you have to work for it
    Fixing stuff that isn't broken.

Yeah, I've spent hours trying to find old pre-napster hardcore. Not fun if your trying to stay legal

This was a sticky situation for me when I first got into DJing (5 months ago lol), but this is how I look at it now. I used to have pirated music, I still do, but everything I have gotten in the passed months and such are all legal and I have paid for. So essentially i'm saying let the past be the past and just do everything legally from now on.

Don't worry about getting caught, just do everything legally and you'll be fine (I hope). There's nothing you can do to change what is already done anyway, no need to dwell on it.

no proof of purchase, no grounds for your case im afraid.

in the eyes of everyone reviewing your situation, you're essentially a pirate. an 'honest' word by the defendant, without any proof - won't hold up in court mate.

I have no experience of this lol, but by the old mantra 'innocent until proven guilty', shouldn't they have to prove that you've pirated the music rather than you having to prove that you haven't???

I have a q. What about legally bought cd's? Do we have to carry a receipt or original case or so?
I mean, it would be dumb to carry around 300 cd's in their boxes...

if all of your music in your cd wallet/on your computer at the gig IF you get looked at has receipts you can produce when asked to - there is absolutely no reason they'd want to raid your place of residence and audit everything... so dont give them a reason and theres a 99% chance you'll be safe mate.

in the future any receipts etc you gather electronically, print them off as pdf's and keep them in a folder on your gig computer - or if you play on cd's get a small usb thumbdrive and have all your pdf receipts on that and slip it into your bag/cd wallet or on your house keys. and make sure you keep a backup in some online storage like dropbox or something just to cover your arse if there's a system crash or similar.

So it wouldn't count if you give them you info and say "come tomorrow to my place"?
