    good plan, make sure they're all good quality! 128kbps mp3 won't cut it.

    Yes there is better quality. The majority of your mp3s should be in 320k. You should also keep a watchful eye on the life of the file.

    Getting below 320 can be risky, and below 256 dangerous. There are exceptions, of course, and many files that can sound fine, but better safe than sorry. especially when DJing an event on a killer system.

    are sites like beatport, traxsource and stuff good quality? what do you guys use for electronic/house/dubstep style stuff?

    Beatport is fine. General major download sites are solid.

    If you still want turntables keep a weather eye out for "super oem turntables". Google to find a list of them. They are good quality and you can often find them for dirt cheap on ebay. The main disadvantage is that technics snobs look down on you :P
