It's about as useful of a term as "Techno" which everyone loves to use for anything EDM.

Everything is 'computer music'. The percentage of 'real bands' still recording to reel-to-reel or 4-track with no computer in there must be tiny now.

True I guess what I am meaning is more of a "computer instrument" as opposed to traditional instruments (guitars, keyboards, drums, etc).

@Geekgod... yes, using 'techno' for anything other than techno is equally unsatisfactory

Anyway following the disrail; my top 10.

Radiohead (although a lot of their output is indistinguishable technically from 'EDM')
    Pink Floyd
    Nirvana
Smashing Pumpkins (up to and including Melon Collie)
U2 (up to and including Achtung Baby)
    Curtis Mayfield
    Spiritualized
    Lee 'Scratch' Perry
    The Police

@GeekGods - are people who use samples of proper stuff in or out? We can then have hip-hop and related (although they are bundled in with EDM above, and 'Electronic Rock' which scuppers NIN and ATR).

Good question, I left out all of my hip hop and "electronic" influences. My list would be very different but I just didn't know

Exactly. Not everybody though. Normal people who haven't got an unhealthy obsession with music use these terms.

But people who don't understand the lexicon should not be writing the language. Resist!
