What styles of music do you mix? When I mix DnB I sometimes where I play the intro of the incoming track right in the middle of the breakdown of the current track. Then let them play together for about 16 bars before mixing out completely.

I would never do that with trance btw...

I have no idea how commercial top 40 mixes, or hip hop, rnb etc.

Oh and another thing I do is I listen to a track repeatedly like maybe 10 or 20 getting a feel for all the cue points, when the vocals start or stop (if there are any) and if the tune has any "weird bits"

    find a good loop....
    Loop 8 bars > 4 bars > 2 > 1 > 1/2 > 1/4 > 1/8
while adding reverb and high pass filter sweep
    then drop the cue point
This is pretty much your answer LOLZZ!!!

Music is mostly all just math. If you can figure out the theory behind music, then you got it solved bro. However, learning that does take a lot of practice, dedication, and honestly studying too.

An easier way, is too just practice your specific songs over and over again. Try to 'feel' the music (if that makes any sense). Use looping. Add FX to your loops. Shorten your loops. Create different rhythm's within a rhythm to give it xtra flavor.

AND WATCH OTHER DJ'S!! You won't learn anything about the actual business or technique of being a Dj by sitting in your bedroom bro. Its good to practice, and its good that your going for this. But in order to take the next step you gotta get out there. Good luck man, i hope maybe some of my words helped you!

I do. It was watching other DJs that got me started in the first place. I'd always thought it sounded fun, but it wasn't until I spent a few nights out watching a local DJ that I realized how interested I was. I listen to as many mixes, watch as many videos, and catch as many live DJs as I can to figure out what they do to make it work.

    Thanks for all the consideration.
