-- CHECK our DEBUT (DEEP)HOUSE EP RELEASE ON BEATPORT "RSTRCTD - EXISTENCE" --
George Lucas is releasing all six "Star Wars" movies on Blu-Ray this month, and at this point we all know it can only mean one thing: More changes to films that most people evidently believed were perfectly good to begin with.
The change that has gotten the most attention comes at the end of "Return of the Jedi," at the film's climax when Darth Vader throws Emperor Palpatine into a reactor pit to save his son Luke. The change has been roundly criticized for turning Vader's silent act of betrayal into a corny, melodramatic B-movie trope by adding a voiceover of Vader exclaiming, "Nooooooo!"
But at least two good things came out of the change. First, James Earl Jones got paid. (Between the "Lion King" re-release this month and the "Star Wars" Blu-Ray, that guy is the patron saint of September '11 royalties.) But also, Cineweekly put together this great supercut of Vader's "Nooooooo!" inserted into other movies. It isn't until you see it in "Casablanca" or "The Godfather" that it's clear how silly the voiceover truly sounds.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkPKZhXth7M
