    Default Behringer ddm4000 crossfader mod

    http://youtu.be/dbuPNuSOuos

I found a cheap DDM4000 on cl with the intentions of doing this mod. I was wondering what is actually happening in this mod? Im guessing that the midi from the up fader is being routed to the crossfader to do both midi/audio at the same time. My question to anyone that can answer is does it have to come from the up fader. What i would like to do is take out one of the potentiometer from either the sampler or mic input that are midi controllable and route those to the crossfader instead.

If possible i would just need to know pinout and route the midi signal to the crossfader.

Any insight for this issue is GREATLY appreciated!!!

i've never done the mod, but depending on your mixing style you could just use the crossfader for midi-only if you mix with the upfaders.
Sorry if I didn't help lol

    Thanks for the response.

I would like to have the ability to do both audio and midi from the crossfader to compliment my mixing style while using "vjing software".

Here is my progress over the weekend

I took my meter to find out the pinout for the sampler pot and the crossfader:

    BACK OF BOARD
    *5+ DC
    *SIGNAL
    *GND
    FRONT OF BOARD

    CROSSFADER (FACING BOTTOM OF FADER)

    TOP LEFT = GND
    TOP RIGHT = 5+ DC
    BOTTOM RIGHT = SIGNAL

I routed (soldered while connecting the points above) the midi from the sample pot (volume/mix adjust) to the crossfader, then engaged midi for the sampler in the main menu. BAM! Now I have audio and mid without the loss of any upfader. Also a added bonus is the sampler pot can be used as a "cut" adjustment for the midi side of the crossfader.

While I had the mixer apart I relocated the head phone jack off the faceplate and moved it to front of the mixer. Just took a unibit and drilled the hole out, then soldered wires to the connectors.

Thought I would share this cause this was simple and a great way to mod the cheap DDM4000 to be used with serato video sl. At some point I would like to find a better crossfader.

I'd love to see some info on relocating the headphone jack!

Re: the crossfader - there are (at LEAST) 2 replacement crossfaders that you can put in a DDM4000 (and I think keep the midi mod):

    1) Innofader (around £100)
    2) Infinium X1 (from Behringer - around £50)
    DJ'ing: 2x1200MK2, DJM 850, Dicers, F1, Zomo MC-1000, Sony MDR-v700, i7 Win 10 HP Envy
Production: Ableton Live 8 and a mouse, Sennheiser HD400, Sony VAIO
