Been dealing with promoters off and on for 10yrs. 99.8% of them are underhanded scum of the earth. Worse than fucking lawyers. They should be tortured and skinned alive for taking advantage of DJs that do not know any better.

Quick update. Decided to take the gig for £20 petrol money and free drinks etc. Outlined that I wouldn't be playing for free again, and have persuaded 10 or so mates to come along.

The guy seems pretty genuine and will be re-branding and setting up a whole new night after Christmas.

Cheers for the wisdom you guys! Will let you know how it goes/ what comes of it afterwards.

You get to play for fun and drink free beer with the added possibility of making money, getting your name out and having a promoter owe you.

    Whats not to like.

It's good to get your name out there and it'll look good if you step in when this guy's in a pinch and rock the house. And make sure this guy knows that you're doing him a favor by possibly playing a gig for free so he doesn't abuse that in the future. Make sure he knows that he owes you a big one.
