like someone said earlier the example you showed can be easily done with traktor on the fly .... but it can also be programmed in ableton (but that's not very impressive imo :P)
Haha - Depends what you do with it really. Horses for courses. But saying it like that is a bit like saying using Traktor isn't as impressive as using Real Vinyl.

You will be able to make good mashups as long as you have the samples beats or songs, and The Maschine is a perfect tool for you to DO THIS!! : 0

Ahh MixMeister ain't too bad man, I use it to quickly get a rough idea of the structure/phrasing of mixes I have in my head before recording them in Traktor. It's also handy for doing really quick layering jobs and fast paced mixes a la Radio 1's MiniMixes.

But don't ever try and use it live!

hey guys just had another thought as I was listening to the link I originally posted. When your using samples do you want them to match the bpm of your beat. Let's say I had a beat going at 120 BPM would I want my acapella samples to be about the same BPM as well. Also on strictlyhits.com I was listening to songs where they do transitions from like 120BPM to 90BPM, could someone explain the technique behind these transitions. I really like the idea of bringing in a track that way. To me it's almost stealth. People realize the music is changing, they have no idea whats coming next, then boom you drop it right on their heads and they didn't have a clue haha.

If you have noticed the tracks are exactly by 3/4 of the original speed - thats the key to making is sound musical instead of just a horrible drastic tempo change. Its quite a interesting technique actually An example of this is that there are some dnb tracks floating around that one moment its 176 BPM dnb and the next moment its 132 BPM electro house - you can use this same technique while your mixing as long as you trigger the 132BPM track at the right time.

Yeah you need to let the track play on the 1st beat of a bar on time with the faster track - preferably when there isnt a whole lot going on with the faster track. If you have the faster track and the slower one playing at the same time this doesnt work if the faster track has rythmic material playing - you need to do a quick cut or atleast be mixing into a part of the faster track where you cant hear anything rythmic.

Study these mixes and tracks that use this technique and you will soon nut it out for yourself. It actually helps to try to beatgrid one of these songs as it will give you a good idea about how you can perform the technique for yourself.
