I have it for over 3 years now, you'll get used to it. At first there's fear, later on there's acceptance. Plus they're busy trying to solve this 'phenomenon' (it's not a disease!).

I'm sure that within ten years there's a solution for tinnitus! You should be happy that you didn't have a spinal cord injury where you cannot move anything or something like cancer...

Think about tinnitus as your friend who reminds you of partying all the time. Rule out the negative feeling!!!

Oh yeah, and for everybody here who's dumb enough to NOT listen: wear EARPLUGS. I've got them custom made (they fit in my ear like a pee pee in a vulva) and it cost me about € 160, but I'm never exhausted anymore and never trouble with my ears, after going to a party...

I have these ones, where you can choose the attenuation (5 dB, 15 dB, 25 dB) and have monitors which fit right into them for DJ'ing!

Got tinnitus as well, it's a hell. I'm actually afraid to go out to any big parties right now, as the last time it got worse. And I wore custom made ear protection all the time. I actually always wear ear protection now, no matter how small/quiet it is. If there's amplified music, I put in my ear protection.

Don't let it get this far. It'll make you turn into a fucking paranoid.

have it VERY minor, but it flares up randomly and esp. around amplified music...music is life! PROTECT THEM...u dun have a fukin S on ur chest...

FYI, listening to music, Even at low volumes! for EXTENDED periods of time (like 12-18 hrs strait) WILL damage you ears! so....take a break from time to time when you are practicing!

Lol, what OP is/was experiencing is most definitely tinnitus; whether it's permanent or not is irrelevant. Feel like a lot of people on here, despite good intentions, need to do some research themselves before attempting to inform others. A lot of the posts in this thread come off as incredibly ignorant, despite the fact that a lot of people posting apparently suffer from tinnitus. Maybe time to hit up a few of the related wiki pages.

Pardon me for not being specific.

What I meant was permanent tinnitus.

I don't know what you mean by your comment "despite the fact that a lot of people posting apparently suffer from tinnitus", perhaps you could explain.

Not sure what needs explaining there, sorry. Seems like you might be reading too far into that sentence and how I chose to word it.

Jesus christ guys, look after your ears.

If my ears are ringing at all after a night out I'm pretty damn grumpy. Since I always wear ear plugs I always feel fresh after a night of loud music and my hearing is as good as ever

Even if you wear plugs, be wary of staying at the front/close to loudspeakers anyway. Especially if they're to your side - don't be a retard like me and switch sides often to balance the load on both ears.
Be wary of temporary threshold shift especially when you're in control of the volume.

Got myself a manageable middle C# in my right ear that popped out only recently, after years of wearing ER-20s and days after a club night...

Went to a dubstep show recently without any hearing protection. Was pretty freaked out when they were still ringing in the morning. Since that, I've just been wearing my IEM's during shows. Feels much better
