Midi signals wouldn't really help, since the mode is dictated by the modifier, which is in the software.

How's 4.5 coming along?
Unfortunately guys and gals, it's been put on the back burner for the moment. Much other excitement I am working on for you all (and no, it isn't another mapping).

I've found that on the 4.4 mapping the delay sometimes gets stuck on when using the gater effect (if I remember right). I think I wanna attempt a midi mapping. I think there'd be much less restrictions on what can and can't be done in midi mode. I'm gonna start doing research.![]()
The issue with midi-mode isn't restrictions, but what then doesn't work as you would expect.![]()

Other than the loop length led's what doesn't work right in midi mode? The way I was thinking about doing it was to use the regular mapping for transport and track selection, and then switch to midi mode for an all out effects page.
To be honest, I am not sure what all doesn't work. I just know many a user have been disappointed with pure S4 midi mappings. Maybe it was just the mapping. But go for it, if it fits your fancy.

- hid mode
- all the led main displays for decks
- some functions (or actually the sum of functions you can't reproduce together) and additional led feedback
You gain:
- a blank canvas to work upon
- possibility to map faders and knobs as buttons (to create pure super knobs).
- possibility to map the s4 to additional softwares
- you can set up almost all midi channels and midi messages as you see fit using the controller editor
The restrictions are your own midi mapping abilities and technical ones coming from the software and/or controller manager.

There’s also an almost hermetic community that exists in many areas of dance music, where serious hobbyists feed off each other’s expertise but barely connect to the industry – despite many of those involved actually working in it.
Thanks Yul for the qualified answer.
