Might have been of more interest if it had more inputs (1 per deck - up to 4 decks???)
I'm interested in HOW it does what it does, and why it can't be/isn't being emulated in software (ie - take a live input and sync all of its effects/functions to the tempo of the input...)

Looks like a fantastic piece of hardware. I don't think it's a ripoff (or game-changer) by any means like some initial reactions. I posted this in the article comments:
The idea is rock solid and the capabilities are immense, but for the price I can't wrap my head around the following: why there aren't more inputs, why it's not made from more rugged materials, and why the drum pads aren't a tad bit larger and doubled (8 total).
1.) Many DJs are running 4 deck setups now...there should be 4in/4out Line/Phono with switches to select which deck(s) you're controlling effects for.
2.) Would it have diminished profit margins so much to give it an aluminum chassis? That would have gone a long way in itself. It just looks cheap...when I first saw it I thought $400 tops.
3.) I'm not saying they have to reinvent the MPC but 8 slightly larger drum pads would have been a huge difference-maker. The versatility would skyrocket--you could either have 2 active kits or 1 huge kit.
If it had those features, $999 would be a much more understandable price point.
Just to be clear 'game changer' was from a tweet by Sasha after having seen the RMX for the first time yesterday, it was just some personal opinion. Pioneer haven't used this term themselves.
It's being priced at £599 in UK stores which i think is pretty good.

Don't sweat it Bro', @ToneControlODS is a legit webshop. I have done a few reviews for them and I try to buy my gear from them as well.

excellent point. A lot of people on this forum are quick to jump on the anti Pioneer band wagon and use misinformation to lambast them.
Based on the facts this is a relatively cheap device that has been announced with very little fuss or showmanship. (in comparison to other recent releases).
If you are not a software dj I can see this adding sufficient creativity to your set up to warrant the cost. Up until now this level and quality of effects is only available from pioneer if you spunk £1500-£2000 on a mixer!

The software based bedroom enthusiasts are KILLING this thing on the blog post.
I've seen a lot of 'I can buy a laptop, lpd8, and ableton and do the same thing'. News flash Walter Cronkite, this ain't aimed at you
I don't have a use for this as a 'room hobbyist, but I can see it's market.
