    from the review on ddjt:
plus they can be autosynced and pitched, and also grouped together so triggering a sample in the same group will stop the currently playing one and “take over” at exactly the same point in the bar – perfect for, say, chopping up vocals in the beat and in time.
sounds just like punch mode in the new traktor 2.5. with an improved vdj, traktor 2.5 and "the one" sometime soon it's going to be interesting

i just wish they'd lower the price of vdj to something a bit more in line with other apps. i know upgrades are always free, which goes some way to explain it. and sadly i haven't been able to find a good deal on any controller that would get me a cheap upgrade to the full vdj yet...

I've been p.m.ing crew when they whinge about vdj and say they are moving to traktor or serato, but sadly no takers... It might be hard to convince someone now in light of the recent announcements...

ah sure... also licenses aren't transferable i think u said? so that means no option to buy a full license from anyone - just an LE version and do an upgrade? i guess the reason for that is the lifetime free updates ofc. must be a heap of people out there that have a controller that came with vdj and then skipped ship to traktor instead of upgrading to vdj pro. i just haven't found one yet. won't have spare cash to spend on new controllers/software for a month or so anyway now - but am planning on buying either new software and/or controller soon.

Mixxx uses xwax for their vinyl control so I doubt there is much difference though I have not used mixxx for that (I could never get it to play nice)

    set 'shift' while_pressed

then you need to query the state of 'shift' on any control or led with:

var 'shift' ? action if shifted : action if not shifted

the variable can be any name you choose as long as you query the same name, and you can do things like toggle and cycle variables if you choose, you can even use any vdj script verb as a variable eg.

play ? action if playing : action if not playing

so using that you could do something on the jog, it could be a normal jog when playing but a browser scroll when not playing

    play ? touchwheel : browser_scroll

there is much more you can do and honestly the mapping is much more comprehensive and easier than traktor.
That's cool, thanks for the info. I haven't used VDJ since version 3 so this very well could be the case... Misguided? No, just unaware. Fool? Absolutely!
