I am using HDJ 500's little brother of the 1000's which I use to use.
Smaller more compact and light weight, loud enough for the club environment and love the swing arm![]()

using the good old Technics Rp-Dh 1200worked for me for over 5 years and are now looking a little beat up (mainly the ear pads are worn through). i am really considering getting a new pair and using these as back ups. gonna have to decide between getting a new pair of technics or the pioneer hdj2000

Frankly the HDJ1000s were total crap, had 3 friends that had them djing daily for 5+ hours, all three pairs broke down(the hinges broke), not to mention the really muddy sound they had. About the 2000s i can say that they are really durable even though the guy that i worked with had them and his pair broke down at the place where the little metal piece (that extends their length) was and their sound wasn't so impressive also.

First of I would like to share with that I'd rather anally insert a cactus and leave it in for three days then be seen in public with beats by dre or mixrs for that matter.
That being said, I got my V-Moda crossfade LP's (gunmetal black) almost a year now.
What I like about them:
-They look great, they do attract people with questions about the headphones so it's great that they make you stand in a not very douchey way.
-Good (not perfect) sound isolation
-Sound great, more then the full human hearing range, they are bass heavy but that only helps you identify the kicks when beatmatching
-Comes with a long kevlar reinforced cord and a similar shorter one with ipod controls and mic, in other words perfect for everyday use
-comes with hardcase
-after one year of use they still have no signs of wear and tear
-They sit comfortable on your head, although after 2-3 hours I like to take a break and take em off to rest my ears a bit
-lifelong warranty
What I don't like about them (and the reason why I might replace them in the distant future with technics):
-They do not sit comfortable in your neck, sometimes when mixing I feel like I NEED to hear the what's coming through the main PA, for example when I'm adjusting the EQs with both songs in the mix already, so then I wear them in my neck, but they are so bulky it's difficult to tilt your head down and look at the mixer because they are so big they constrict the movements of your head.
If you have any questions about the V-modas I'll be happy to help you out.
I use the AKG K181 DJ, an excellent over the ear DJ model![]()
I highly recommend themAKG_K181_DJ_1.jpg
@MyUsername What about the lack of the swivel function?

Can you compare them with any other headphones that you have used?

No, I had some DJ friends when I started out and they said don't underestimate how important the headphones are.
So I started off with great headphones.
Later when I got the V-Moda the same guys (those DJ friends) tried the headphones and what struck them the most is how comfortable they are and that they seal off everything very well. I think that 1 one em had HDJ-500s and another had Xone headphones.
