So I started off with great headphones.

Later when I got the V-Moda the same guys (those DJ friends) tried the headphones and what struck them the most is how comfortable they are and that they seal off everything very well. I think that 1 one em had HDJ-500s and another had Xone headphones.
So let me get this right....you know absolutely sod all about headphones but want to put down Beats by Dre? Nice...I like that.

Firstly, come back to this topic in a few years when you've had a career and gone through the entire range of decent headphones out there - like I have.

I have owned every decent pair of headphones on the market, through purchase and sponsorship - I now use Beats Dre Pro for weekly international shows and Beats Studio for using on the road/planes/hotel rooms.

The sound quality is superb, I have sennheisers, Technics, Sonys at home but for me, infront of thousands or on the road writing, Beats are bringing it straight to my ears right.

The only people who slag off beats are generally the ones with no experience of them. I think they're excellent. I wouldn't use them for dj'ing because the studios need batteries and the pro's are too expensive for me. And mixrs have an unfortunate image due to mr guetta

You do realize that the studios have maybe they worst sound in their price range/class. Although the pros are decent but not exactly good due to their price tag and weight that for someone who is playing 4+ hours straight may cause him neck problems.

I remember in amazon someone bought 2 pairs and they both showed cracks after 2 months of use, that should make you rethink the durability of the tma-1s.

AAAAAW did I hurt your feelings ?
You 're mad because I said I really dislike a product you own ? Really ? Welcome to the internet, shit like this happens on a daily basis.

Granted, I haven't gone through 2 dozen headphones like you. I'm just here to pass accurate information to the OP, I'm just trying to be helpful. After using a product for almost a year I can share some useful information.

About the beats, it's my right to dislike them, there is nothing you can do about, it's merely an opinion of a person you have never met. The reason why they disgust me is the fact that they are overpriced and are marketed towards people who care about looks, image, status, what is considered hip by the sheep of todays society. Some of wich are full-on white trash scum of the earth douchebags.

Now I'm not saying you are a douchebag, I've never met you, but I can deduct you it only takes a bad word about something you like to make you snap. Now, I hope we can all put this behind us and get on with our day. Because hey, we're talking about headphones here, not ending world hunger or curing cancer or finding the reason we exist, no just electronics surrounded by synthetic material that produce a sound. This actually matters very little. Good day sir.

I don't think you read what he wrote correctly. He's not mad cause you dislike them, he's disgruntled over the fact that you have little experience on the subject, yet you decided to make an off-topic comment/bashing of a product, when you reallly should be keeping quiet or keeping it on-topic. Since we all know now that you have no real knowledge of the product, you certainly should not be copying the thoughts of every hipster doofus on internet forums about how Beats are the devil either.

I don't mean to enter into a debate because like you say they're just headphones and I agree these aren't headphones for dj's. But image is a very valid consideration for a purchase, everyone likes to look good. I wouldn't buy crap looking clothes in an attempt to avoid being a sheep.

Well actually thats exactly what they are, at least what they are designed to be ... and in fairness they DO look good and look like they will last and are most probably fine for DJ'ing. A DJ doesn't need production quality sound, a DJ headphone (IMHO) needs to be able to cut though a few thousand watts of PA and in many cases super loud Monitors while isolating the outside sound and without distorting like crazy, I'm sure they tick these boxes quite well.

Now IF they sounded as good in a studio setup as HD25 as well as just on stage I would probably fully endorse them at the current price (as there's not much difference in price of 25's). BUT as they are (Insert Smily face EQ curve!) I'd probably be willing to pay $150 and use them Soley for gig use.

BTW I'm talking specifically about the Mixr's and not the other beats phones.

Beats aren't "Bad" when it comes to making headphones, they just massively inflate the price of pretty "nice" headphones and have every tom dick and harry big name endorse them - big names that the majority of Underground Jocks hate, and the overground jocks love to hate on.

Now if beats were to create an EGE or Richie Hawtin Editon would beats still be a hated brand - me wonders ?

I'm gonna agree with almost everything you said, except the part about them not being for DJ's. I have a pair of custom Beats Pro that I wear to gigs. I also have a pair of HDJ-2000's. I honestly think the 2000's sound a little better. So why don't I take the best sounding pair w/ me? Cause all I need my headphones to do for me at gigs is have good volume and decent isolation. Heck, most of the time I'm only using one ear cup. It's not like I'm producing music while I'm at a gig. Now if you don't have a lot of money and you plan on mixing a lot at home or whatever in your headphones only then I would def say dont buy the Beats. There are better sounding and cheaper alternatives.
