We don't need a kickstarter for software, we already have mixxx and xwax, people just need to get involved and make it better!

I literally have started learning to code (I've never done anything like this before) so I can one day contribute to software I love and use every day

I believe this is probably a more stereotypical response to this issue.

The majority of Traktor users (i would guess) have no interest in mapping their controllers. Most just want to plug it in and have it work instantly. This probably explains why NI don't feel there is a problem with the size of the mapping window. There just aren't enough people bothered about it to make it a viable "issue".

People who have a strong enough desire to use the remix decks will just have to buy an F1. I don't really see the issue with NI making us do this. I honestly believe though that the remix decks will at some point in the future be open to all who wish to map the shit out of everything. But they have a new product to sell first.

yeah, you have a good point, traktor is all about plug and play. but its nice not having to buy a controller just for one feature in traktor, when you could use a controller that you have already and save some money. you just have to map it correctly.

That's not NI's responsibility though. They aren't in business to save us money. They are in business to sell shit. And lots of it. Whether we can afford all of this new gear is our issue not theirs.

I really don't like that. I believe they should be trying to make the best product, not make the most money off their product, regardless of whether or not it is good for the customer/the product.

Companies like Cockos (the guys who make reaper) are awesome.

"Our goal is to develop software sustainably while preventing profit rationale from forcing engineering compromises. By doing so, we can keep our product visions intact, giving maximum benefit to our users."

Now that's a good way to run a company.

In a utopian society that may be valid but in reality most large companies have shareholders to pay and that means making as much profit as possible. I mean a business has to ensure that the quality of their product is the best but that's only in order to sell more of what they make.

I'm not disagreeing with you by the way.

Seems to me like tying software to their own hardware is making it more of a toy than an audio tool. I am shocked that midi is not being supported.
