Apparently I've qualified for Student pricing the whole time, so there was no need to wait. But I didn't know that. Dang.

If I can find the box and install disks and stuff, my copy of Logic will be up for sale soon.

Just preference. And realizing that my computer runs it despite not being Avid certified or whatever it's called. There's nothing wrong with logic, just a few things that bug me.

It's small things like being able to split a stereo send at its return point, better/faster (imho) editing tools, more straightforward transport controls, etc.. Plus, 10 has the channel strip off of the System 5 console as a plugin, which I really like. And the studio at school runs HD, so I don't have to get used to switching…which is good because I'm taking an independent study course in media production and basically getting credit for stuff I'd be doing anyway, but with genelecs in a decent room instead of my KRKs.

Oh, and the RTAS format will let plugins output MIDI, so I can use Maschine's sequencer instead of just a piano roll and only deal with audio in the DAW, which makes more sense to me and works better with how I use Maschine. The AU format Logic uses is the only major one that won't let plugins output MIDI.

And automation without a control surface is easier, which is good because I can't afford one yet.

Logic was always a stop-gap until I could run PT again. I owned it before (LE 7.3) and loved it, but ran into upgrade issues that eventually made me sell my mBox. I still don't really like Avid's slow update cycle, but 9 and 10 aren't tied to their interfaces, and if they don't keep up with OS X version upgrades well enough, I'll just end up dual booting, OSX just for music and Linux for everything else.
