Basically the way I see it is if you make money from music be it Djing or Producing then you really should buy the software simple as that if you are making a living using it then there is no excuse IMO. ( unless you live in parts of eastern europe jk. )
Even if you just want to try out abit of software you can go to a dj store and have a go TBH an hour or so mixing is good enough to see if you like the software.
If you dont make any money from music and just mix or make beats at home then IMO its different completely I see no wrong in that at all. In fact I think having cracked software like Ableton , Reason , Traktor freely available has helped alot of kids get into making music ( just look at all the young producers on the grime / bassline scene) where back when I was 16 ( years ago now 31 getting very old indeed lol ) a basic drum machine cost shit loads I had to go without I could be famous now
there were cracked bits of kit but back then cracked ment broken
My EX girls little brother has been making beats on a cracked version of Cubase he knows his plugins and puts me to shame with his knowledge he is only 16 and could walk into a proper studio and mix down a track no problem a thing that I was dreaming of at his age.
people can take the moral high ground but I bet if a m8 gave them a load of mp3s of the latest tracks they would accept them even if they knew they were from p2p and if they went round a m8s and they pulled out a pirate copy of a film they would sit down and watch it and not storm off lol
