Who hates their PC or MAC

I'm pretty bummed about my 2012 13" Macbook's inability to record from a standard 1/8" plug.

However, the Precision M6400 that I had recently ran it like a dream.

Are you currently using this or did? If you switched why did you switch? I have one from work I've been meaning to try my traktor on. Thought about buying it myself for DJ and the occasional contract work because it has the quadro card in it.

The single audio port detects the standard line level 1/8" plug as an output. The OS does not allow you to select input like previous 13" models. However, you can get input/output using iPhone headphones. So, I guess an adapter that uses the iPhone standard plug is needed.

I'll find out when this comes in.

I am perfectly happy DJing on the PC
and can see no need to switch to the MAC.

All Mac have mostly the same components and what works on a MBA also works on a MBP or iMac. So in that way it's safer to go Mac this makes it easier for hardware manufactures to designe for Mac. With Windows no computer model has the same configuration therefor making it much harder to develop for the platform.
With a Mac if the Software and Controller are suported then it will more without problems 99% times. On windows that is just not true. You can get a windows laptop where everything works without problems so more reserch is needed before buying. And if the research is done you can get a loptop that is cheeper and runs as good or even better then a MBP. I've had several Windows machines and have been totaly happy with them. Heck we use my 10+ years old HP in the club for karaoke running VDJ and it has no probs what so ever. I personaly only use Mac at home and for DJ'ing. I produce music surfe and some gaming(Minimal) my Macbook only has Traktor and some other DJ related stuf on it, I even have uninstalled TextEdit. I've never had one crash only once at home Traktor restarted after I had just started it up.
Windows is good if you get the right computer Mac is 95% of the time good. this is just my opinnion though.

I just upgraded a few months ago to the 2012 13 inch model (ivy bridge 2.5 ghz , 8GB DDR3 1600 mhz, 500GB hdd) to replace my aging old 2010 model (Core2Duo 2.4ghz, 8GB DDR3 1066hz , 750GB hdd) which i used since mid 2010 for a good 2 years

during that 2 years with my 13 inch 2010 macbook pro it has NEVER crashed on me - except once when i yanked out the mbox while i was running protools - which was my fault really, and i have almost never turned it off, I just close the lid to put in on sleep mode, i never really did need to use the apple care protection (which was why I stopped purchasing the apple care - one year warranty is enough for me as I have always good luck with apple products)

the 2012 13 inch model has been really great too, it runs A LOT cooler than my 13 inch 2010 MBP, the 2010 model would get heated up even by playing flash videos (goes up to 3000-5000 rpm) but the new 2012 model stays at 2000 rpm (fan speed) almost all the time, I barely ever see it going beyond 3000 rpm fan speed

before my 2010 mbp i used an acer laptop - that piece of crap gave me BSOD almost every day, even though at the time it was nicely specced, and i used that dp latency thing to tweak it - still crashed a lot, which was the first reason why i switched to mac

Maybe that's the reason some of them did the change? I changed because i was using Macs day in day out for college so it made sense and then eventually i just didn't enjoy using PC's any more, but if you read my post, it will explain everything there.

I did read your post and it just appeared to be as full of hyperbole as all the other posts from acolytes.

Video editing and photo etc, as someone mentioned is quite funny because yes my old 15" Advent laptop had a better graphics card and soundcard than my Macbook and Macbook Pro but my Advent could never, ever run Traktor, Torq, Ableton or Photoshop without wanting to shat itself.

From all the anti-pc posts here the only lesson we can appear to learn is that if you buy cheap laptops (Acer/Advent) you're going to have a bad time. If you can't run any of the above software there is either something wrong with your machine (rebuild time, just like you re-install OSX) or you're too underspecced to run it. Neither of which are exclusive PC issues.

The Advent laptop in topic was more than capable regarding spec, it just didn't want to run anything properly. It was a great laptop and i still have/use it. It had it's OS reinstalled a few times and was kept up to date. I just moved over to Mac due to it being easier for me and it makes life so much easier. I'm quite good with the workings of PC's as i work with them daily but to be honest i got fed up having to upkeep, update everything. Another reason of the switch.

I ain't turning this into another war so back on topic.
