Ok so i had another go at the flux mode and vinyl timecode. Using dicers, i put the deck in flux mode, then jumped to a cue point, so far so good, flux works. If you wanna scratch that itch (the cue point) you have to keep the cuepoint button pressed. You can then scratch it, when you let go it goes back to where it should. So the only implementation for a scratch head, would be using a foot controller mapped to either the cue point you need, or the next/prev cue point.

On this i would suggest as an inexpensive (well, least expensive, without modding anything) a "line 6 fbv express mk2" ( http://line6.com/footcontrollers/fbvexpressmkii.html ). It has a usb connexion, an editor for it, and does midi over usb. It comes with 4 buttons (latch or normal) and and "expression pedal". Comes in at aprox. 100$.

Yes, that was my original idea I had yesterday...a few pages back.

Problem is, having one button to engage Flux Mode is fine and how it should be.

However, you then either need free cue points and have to do some mad mapping to get it to select the cue...let you scratch it...and then delete that cue when done.

That all assigned to a hold and release of a foot switch could work i guess.
But what if you have existing cue points you want to preserve?

An instant loop that you could momentarily hold and scratch and release, would be the ideal I rate.

I'm guessing that we are only seeing the beginning of the implementation for flux mode. They of course had it beta tested, but real world usage and feed back on the forum and features suggestion will refine the way flux works in the next updates.

Then again, i'm also certain that implementing flux for the scenario we are talking about must be hard, since i think it was mostly created for loops, and cue point juggling, not really a "jump to cue, scratch, then goes back to where it should be".

Because how is traktor going to know when you are done scratching, if not for you to hold the cue button untill you are done.

Hopefully you're right and it will get sorted.

I dont think it's actually that difficult, simply a toggle Flux Mode active button (like we are using the Cue/Loop/Beatjump), then scratch, and then toggle the flux mode off to jump back to it's relative point.

Surely this is what is happening when the S4 detects that you have touched the jogwheel? you touch it, Flux mode actives with green flashy light, then you scratch, then let go and Flux de-activates and jumps back to it's tracked position.

Same issue with the remix decks, there's no real reason why we cant have mapping options to trigger more than 4 sample slots, and page up/down to access the lower slots, but of course if they did that F1 sales would suffer.

I just don't get flux - or slip - mode...

A big deal is getting made of it but I don't remember ever using slip mode on my CDJ's, would be interesting to hear how everyone uses flux mode now it's here...

I haven't downloaded 2.6 yet so I haven't tested flux mode but when I was watching it I thought of just making smaller builds within a track. Also it could be used for fills...but you would need a few open cue points dedicated to a unique part of the song (acapella) to do what im thinking of.

I also see flux mode being the most annoying overused part of a set....just like how 'new' dj's abuse the beatmasher....this will be the same

No...It allows the track to continue playing in the background...so if you touch the jog wheel and scratch....when you release...it does not continue playing from where you stopped it, but from where the track would have been had you not touched it. It allows anyone to do instant scratches on a track without fucking up the phase. It will still be in time with your other track that is playing!

    Awesome!

Thats what I said a few pages back. Slipmode relies on a ON and OFF message. How can a Timecode vinyl do that? Its not touch sensitive. So the only way is with a switch on momentary hold. Seeing as you need your hands to scratch and fade....a foot switch is the only real option.

Need to sleep on this and think about it a bit more and test the Beat Jump method. I WAANT SLIPMODE WITH TC'S!!!!!!!!

It manages to determine a master deck doesn't it?

mmm...I sync to master clock...so have not tried to see what happens if set it to use decks as the master.

Thing is...how do you tell it to come out of Flux?....when you stop rubbing the TC?
That could be part of your trick...and would not be managable if Flux releases at that point.
