You can change the FX in Traktor directly on the mixer by pressing shift and turning the FX knob. You have no FX when using the mixer externally.

The Z2 has Transport controls, but they involve pressing the Shift button. I've only used Play/Pause, but pressing the Cue buttons on a stopped deck acts as the CUP feature anyway, so I've not bothered to see if there is a dedicated CUP feature other than that.

    Thread resurrection;

Does this change anyones opinion? http://djworx.com/pioneer-djm-t1-coming-out-fighting/

I'm still leaning towards Z2, but not ready to commit until I've settled the DJM v Z2 debate with myself......

    My comparison of the two:

Post Fx - z2 (yes) , DJM (yes)
Flux mode - z2 (yes), DJM (yes)
Transport controls - z2 (no), DJM (yes)
    FX controls - z2 (2 - 1 filter, 1 macro), DJM (3 pots, LFOs)
    Mic i/p - z2 (rear), DJM (front)
USB hub - z2 (yes), DJM (no)
Channel switches - z2 (big), DJM (bit fiddly)
Deck C/D vol control? yes to both
Internal vs external? as far as i can tell, DJM is both
Version of Traktor? I have no clue.
Price isnt an influencing factor as there is only £50 in it, its about what it right for me. Lack of transport isn't a dealbreaker as use my decks and can map something to my launchpad for spare buttons

I'm leaning toward the z2 as it has post fx, usb hub, the mic i/p in the right place (for me) and only has one pot less. The one thing that keeps running thru my mind is that the djm is a pioneer and i know they make good mixers, native have only ever made this.

Does anyone know if you can change the fx using just the z2?

FYP you clearly havent seen the djm-t1's new firmware update.

Nope i didn't know that in mid November.
Interesting move by pioneer. Z2 still looks slicker in operation; this looks like a quick fix that doesn't work as well

    Default DJM-T1 vs. Z2 ?

I do own a DJM T1 (bought after the price drop) I have to say I like it. I wish it wouldn't taken some cues from the DJM 909 (more fader control, built in fx as well) but overall the build quality is great, cue points on each side very handy, and it's got a nice EQ. I do want to try the Z2 however I don't think it'll feel as solid as the T1.
Same here. I'm not a DJ but I couldn't resist the DJM-T1 after the price hit rock bottom. Such a sturdy unit and I use it with my S4 cooperatively, just for fun.

What is the most impressive function of the Z2 that the DJM-T1 doesn't match, if you don't mind me asking ?

I'm also wondering if anyone is aware if there are any plans to enable the effects for LIVE sources on either ? I read that this is only a software limitation and of course, there is no need to "beatgrid" it if it's just effects you want ... a good idea, perhaps ?

I'm Andrew, by the way. a recently unemployed old computer guy. Hello folks ! I'm very familiar with forum culture and hope that there will be at least a few good people here.

    Default Which mixer to buy?

Alright guys, I'm looking for a new mixer to buy. I have narrowed my searches own to the pioneer djm-t1 or the kontrol z2.

Both seem to be able to do the same things pretty much from what i have read on reviews and stuff so i am wondering if anyone has actually used both of these.

both mixers have a traktor soundcard already installed so no need to buy an external one it is all plug your turn tables in and then go.

I already have a few other controllers for traktor like the f1, x1, maschine etc so i am looking for someones opinnion who knows a lot about both. both are pretty much the same price, within £60 difference.

The Pioneer T1 can be had direct from Pioneer @ $420 refurbished - Which is onehellofadeal and comes with Scratch Duo Licence (upgradable free to scratch pro) as opposed to just a regular Traktor Licence.

I recently looked at the new video for the T1. Have you seen how complicated some of the functions look? Probably not too bad once your used to it mind you.

For example, have a look at what you have to do for Flux... (2.50 on the below video).

Technics 1210 mk2's, Pioneer CDJ 500, Allen & Heath DB4, NI F1's (x2), Reloop Contour Controller Edition, Sennheiser HD25 1-II or Allen & Heath XD2-53's depending on my mood...
