Video DJing in conjunction with DJing...using Resolume. midi signal send and return between traktor and resolume is a pita on my Windows, but my mac cannot process video that well but i like the fact that u can do internal routing already built into Macs.

Any Video Intenstive rendering, ie creating video clips for me to use within Resolume.

    Anything thats really video intensive.

A lot of software today is now usable on Mac...but even then thats just recently...that was my biggest gripe about mac...was the lack of software.

As well i have the ability to strip everything down on my windows to free up as much resources as possible. I dont know if that is possible within MAC os...and if it is i just dont know how :P

My Alienware GUI looks like windows 2000. Yes its not pretty but i could care less about pretty and want functional with best performance possible.

I dont care if you use 2 ipads...2 cassette tapes...or a washboard and a wooden spoon...if you rock it, you rock it.

this is where linux rocks tho... i have my archlinux desktop running xfce to use the least resources possible and also actually setup to look just like my mac desktop. just a shame about application compatibility on linux

No i wasnt refering to you specifically...just a general statement when i see a lot of people that say macs are way better i ask them what type of pc did u own....and the usual response is oh it was an asus i bought for 400 or an acer i got for 500...then i just smh...

Macs are made from the ground up...everything is pretty much made within 1 building so to speak...i know that their chipset is from intel and that their mobos are made from asus. This still makes things really streamline for MAC...as everything is created based on specifically Intel and Asus parts...where as most PCs are cobbled together from a variety of manufactures...and then are meant to work off a single OS created for all these different computer components.

So you are not really comparing the same thing...now if u compare an Alienware to a Mac you are getting more of a truer this vs that.

Still to this day...the cost of an alienware vs a mac is about even...yet the Alienware will usually have more power in it compared to a MBP.

There are tons of forums where people are using hackintosh dual boot and getting the best of both worlds.

true - mac's do have an unfair advantage there.

a friend of mine once had an alienware machine and it was very nice... the performance of the thinkpad or hp laptop i had at the time didn't compare at all.

an alienware should have more power than a mac for the same price really - as you do pay quite a premium for it being a mac. even with the inflated price i'd probably stick with mac again in the future; tho an alienware would be awesome to tun archlinux on and i'll be looking to replace this again/cheapo acer sometime.

actually a little bit baffled if you want me to be honest, i used to work in TV and back in the day mac pros were the tits for cutting video, that's one of the places everyone agrees macs really kick ass. sorry you've had a lame experience though. macbook pros are in wide use for video editing/cutting stuff in the field in TV. it's possible resolume's mac version is just a crappy port tho.

i'd actually say if there were a platform that was bringing up the rear in that department that's really accelerating atm it's Windows, though again they've closed the gap so far the difference should be negligible

I dont think it has anything to do with the OS to be honest...i think its more of a video card issue
