Opinions vary I guess, as do people's expectations of what they're getting when they spend $100.

That's great, you got a deal on them. The MAP price on the Contour Controller Edition, however, is almost $200. The MAP price on the CMD modules is $129. And you can easily buy the CMD controllers new right now for $99.

If paying almost $60 more for a product that has less functionality but is made of metal makes sense to you, then you made the right decision for you. That's why there are multiple products in any given product category. Other people may choose to have the functionality instead of the metal. Or they may decide that they want to buy into a system of products that all compliment each other (which is the whole point of CMD). Or $200 may simply be too high a price for them to pay. Or maybe they like having a 3 year warranty more than they like having a metal chassis.

Also, using plastic construction as a pejorative doesn't make sense, considering the most successful products in this particular product category (the Native Instruments modules) are all also plastic with a thin metal top.

Correction about the Behringer CMD channel changer :

on PC the program crash, but the midi channel is changed on the CMD unit just before the crash, so the program does it job ;-)

Good deal. As long as it gets the job done. That is an alpha build of the software that was never finished, so as long as it worked I'm happy.

Guys, just a quick question, does anybody has idea how MM1 compare to Z1. I love that MM1 4 channel and crossfader, I want faders to add to my Touch OSC set up (needs to be very light for travel) but I would like to make sure that it solid, has no odd quirks and functions well with Trakor Pro 2.

I chose the MM-1 over the Z1. I'd give the nod to the Z1 for better knobs, of course it's also a soundcard too if you need one, 2 dedicated gain knobs is also nice. Other than that I feel the MM-1 is far more the better controller. 2 more fader/EQ/filter controller channels available, 4 hub USB and I actually like the crossfader a bit more than the Z1. $100 cheaper too.

I have my MM-1 mapped out to complement my X1 and F1. I make up for the lack of extra gain knobs by making the top rotary a deck switcher and the Out 2 knob my gain adjust. Top left and right buttons turn on/off Deck C/D as in my Traktor options I don't load into playing Deck and the F1 with Remix Decks there is no Deck play/stop. The 1-2 buttons are for Deck FX on and I use the shift to toggle between FX 1&2 and 3&4.

Only real complaint on the MM-1 is the stubby knobs and the fact the fader line painted on the controller rub out rather fast. I'm actually gonna buy some white tape and redo the lines. Otherwise it's perfect for my needs. The HUB is a real bonus as I don't need an extra USB powered hub.

To be perfectly honest i regret buying my MM-1, The lines rubbed of the first day and now three or four months later the main USB socket has gone sloppy and wobbly but even worse its cutting out intermittently so i am looking to replace it with a xone K2 or a Faderfox DJ3 or even a Z1. The K2 is looking favourite at the moment because its four channel (i dont use Xfader) and has an inbuilt soundcard but i will miss the powered hub but Hey its only £18 for a really good powered hub. I never got on with the PL-1 so i got a pair of Denon DN-SC2000,s much nicer although more expensive and the DC-1's Biggest knob keeps rubbing(knob jokes welcome hehe). The LC-1 is OK though.
Overall i would say that behringers Quality hasnt improved much, if at all and i for one wont be caught again and i wont ever buy behringer stuff ever again. Like i said last time 10 years ago when i bought one of their mixers. Although i had no problems with the midi side of things i would still have preferred an editor even if it was just to change the midi channel. I find midi-ox impossible to use but to be fair its an old program which was'nt really meant to be used that way. So overall i give Behringer 7 out of 10 for trying but only 3 out of 10 for execution.

Thanks a lot. Basically you made me confident to buy. Issues you mentioned are negligible. I always look at Behringer with bit of distrust, but seem they step up the game. I was in shop - they did not have it. They have old TR1 for amazing price - would you be able to compare to that one. Thanks in advance.
